Utz Quality Foods is seeking a Quality Assurance Supervisor/ SQF Practitioner to join our team in Grand Rapids, MI. This position will serve as the first line of supervision for the laboratory and is responsible for oversight of the quality and food safety programs throughout the facility. The individual will drive all aspects of food safety, quality systems, SQF certification, regulatory requirements, industry audits, product identity, disposition of non-conforming product, and standards adherence within the operation. Extensive experience in laboratory testing and HACCP/HARPC programs with demonstrated leadership skills and the desire and ability to interact with all levels of the enterprise is required. Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, strong critical thinking and math skills are essential in this position. This position reports directly to the QA Director.

Quality Assurance Supervisor/ SQF Practitioner:



  • Responsible for the daily activities of the QA lab to ensure support of food safety and quality processes.
  • Able to perform all the essential functions of a Quality Assurance (QA)
  • Sets up, calibrates and maintains existing and new testing equipment in the
  • Leads manufactured and purchased product testing including documentation and reporting of all inbound
  • Reviews and approves daily QA data, ensuring accuracy and adherence to
  • Identifies areas for quality improvement and leads team to achieve desired
  • Trains and schedules all QA technicians and maintains a prospective talent
  • Maintains compliance with FDA and other governing bodies (city/ state/ health department).
  • Implements and works with department managers on continuous improvement
  • Other duties as assigned to support over all departmental and corporate
  • Serves as SQF Practitioner, HACCP coordinator, and FSMA expert for the facility; leads a cross-functional Food Safety Team.
  • Preparing for and leading a team through third party food safety/ GMP
  • Oversite of the SQF program including but not limited to adherence to SQF code requirements, document and record management, monthly leadership meetings, verification, and validation activities.
  • Ensures coverage across all shifts, and replacement during absences.

  • The ability to stand and walk for an entirety of a shift.
