Job Description: Planner A General Function: We are seeking a Planner to develop work packages and work orders, maintain production routings, and monitor process lead times to support the Master schedule. The role operates under the general direction of the Director of Production. Typical Duties:
- Generate work packages, material requisitions, project component order releases, certain inventory transactions, etc., into an automated data handling system (MRP System - Finesse).
- Generate production reports from the MRP system, including shortage lists, order status reports, exception reports, labor reports, production routings, and parts lists.
- Monitor yard capacities.
- Receive and assess engineering modifications, adjust work packages accordingly, and communicate changes/adjustments with schedulers as needed. Communicate schedule adjustments to production personnel through the work packages.
- Consult with the project team to ensure appropriate inventory is available for production purposes to support the project schedule.
- Develop and monitor labor/material estimates and actual performance at the work order level.
Desired Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Considerable knowledge of the principles and practices of production planning and inventory control in an MRP environment.
- Ability to enter, maintain, and generate accurate data and reports.
- Ability to read engineering drawings, specifications, and blueprints.
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships.
- Considerable knowledge of the creation and use of Build Strategies, Master Schedules, Product Work Breakdown Structures, Material Requirements Planning, Product Modeling, Work Order Creation, Budgeting, and Detailed Scheduling, or the ability to acquire it quickly.
Experience & Training:
- College degree preferred. High school education or equivalent supplemented by coursework or technical training in production management acceptable.
- APICS certification is a plus.
- Experience with MRP software is required.
- Professional level experience in scheduling, production planning, or any combination of experience and training that results in the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Planner Levels:
- Planner Level A: 6+ years of experience
- Planner Level B: 3-6 years of experience
- Planner Level C: 0-3 years of experience
