Program Specialist

As required by our governmental client, this position requires being a US Citizen AND an active TS/Sensitive Compartmental Information (SCI) clearance.

***This position is short-term and will end in 6 months***

Are you passionate about shaping U.S. policy and engagement in the dynamic landscape of East Asia and the Pacific? Cherokee Federal is seeking a dedicated Program Specialist to join our team and provide crucial support to the Bureau of East Asian and Pacific Affairs (EAP), Office of Chinese and Mongolian Affairs. As a Program Specialist, you'll play a pivotal role in monitoring programs, evaluating strategies, and crafting impactful messaging that influences policy decisions.

Compensation & Benefits:

Estimated Starting Salary Range for Program Specialist: $123,379.26

Pay commensurate with experience.

Full time benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K, and other possible benefits as provided. Benefits are subject to change with or without notice.

Program Specialist Responsibilities Include:

  • Develop, coordinate, and implement U.S. policy to respond to PRC activities in a given region or a given issue set (e.g. Europe or technology policy)
  • Serve as an action officer for environmental, health, science, multilateral affairs and international organizations.
  • Drafts policy documents, briefing papers, press guidance, and public remarks for U.S. officials.
  • Coordinate with Department and interagency partners to create synergies in approaches to policies addressing PRC activities.
  • Plan and execute high-level engagements.
  • Work with the Treasury Department, Commerce department, USAID, State Department, Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor, State Department Economic Bureau, and others to coordinate policy responses.
  • Streamline communication and coordination between the EAP/CM Office and relevant domestic and overseas Department and interagency offices.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Program Specialist Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:

  • PhD required in a scientific field and/or 10 years' experience in international politics/foreign policy/science and technology
  • Ten (10) years or more work experience on political economic analysis, state building, governance, and human rights or 1.5 - 2 years in Department of State-specific foreign policy development
  • Ability to solve problems and encourage consistent, solid performance.
  • Proficiency in qualitative and quantitative research methods.
  • English language (written and spoken) communications skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, coordinate activities in multiple locations, act decisively in daily work, and work well in a multi-cultural team environment.
  • Strong organizational, communication, interpersonal, and computer skills.
  • Ability to work independently to assess priorities and manage daily coordination of details with minimal supervision
