What your job will be like:

The SRF Production Engineer III designs components, tooling and assembly systems for SRF Cryomodule production and supervises the work of designers and technicians in developing parts, tooling and assembly systems for cryomodule production. Serves as a technical representative to external vendors in acquiring necessary material and systems and as representative to management and other groups for presentation of status and program updates.

In this role you will:


  • Work with, motivate and supervise engineers, designers and technicians in developing tooling for SRF cryomodule assembly 3D models, 2D drawings and assembly procedures. Assist in creating, checking and approving required documentation and specifications.
  • Participate in SRF cryomodule cleanroom assembly process development and testing to verify progress and efficacy. Work with engineers and technicians to ensure tooling and assemblies are functional and robust, techniques are accepted and approved and technical issues are resolved quickly. Assist with prototype and first article installation and testing of tooling.
  • Assist in developing SRF cryomodule production processes, work travelers, quality acceptance and other plans.
  • Understand required JLab codes and standards, including: ASME piping, ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Codes and JLab Pressure and Vacuum System Rules and ensure that tooling. processes and systems are in compliance.
  • Communicate tooling and systems production status to customers. line and project management. Develop technical status reports; present designs at technical reviews.
  • Serve as the responsible technical representative for the procurement of component, tooling and systems. Interface with external vendors as necessary to ensure quality materiel is fabricated, inspected for acceptance and delivered.
  • Serve in rotation as RF Operator in the VTA.
  • Serve in rotation in the CMTF and CEBAF as RF Operator and as Cryo Operator.
  • Perform vibration and modal analysis on mechanical systems.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering

Experience


  • 10 years of Relevant Experience

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities


  • In-depth understanding of mechanical engineering principles and fundamentals.
  • Familiarity with metal fabrication technical requirements, equipment, methods and processes.
  • Knowledgeable in the use of CAD and multivariable analysis software in analyzing and producing solutions to mechanical problems.
  • Ability to assist plan, direct, and coordinate activities and resources in a manufacturing environment in accordance with cost, quality, and quantity specifications.
  • Able to work in collaboration with others to solve complex problems.
  • Able to take direction and work under supervision to carry out tasks and solve problems of limited complexity.
  • Able to communicate effectively the results and challenges of on-going projects to fellow staff and management in both oral and written form.
  • Ability to train, coach, and lead technical staff on task and projects with limited complexity.
