Physician Physician will analyze viral genomic data to support viral disease surveillance and countermeasure development, including the use of frameworks that combine genomic data with a broad range of biological, medical, behavioral and health data. The secondary responsibilities will include the design and execution of early viral vaccine and other countermeasure clinical trials. Compensation & Benefits:
- Estimated Starting Salary Range for Physician: $330,000.00 annually
- Pay commensurate with experience.

Physician Responsibilities Include:
- Conducts Field Visits.
- Supports the mission of WRAIR and VDB in combating infectious diseases by providing analyses of data for our internal and external collaborators (funded projects on viral disease surveillance and pre-clinical countermeasure development).
- Performs independent research, creates new collaborations and builds research projects, bringing in project funding, sharing research findings and milestones with the command and with the general public by publications and presentations.
- Provide training for staff and collaborators as needed.
- Performs other job-related duties as required.
Physician Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:
- Must have and maintain, or be eligible for, a valid license to practice medicine in the State of Maryland.
- Master's or PhD level qualifications in epidemiology, biostatistics or public health.
- Maintain all certifications required of the position as well as meet Continuing. Medical Education (CME) requirements of the American Medical Association or the American Osteopathic Association.
- Shall have current Basic Life Support (BLS) by way of an American Heart Association approved training program.
- Must meet all the required credentials and stipulations of practice as described by the WRAIR Clinical Trials Center.
- Statistical software packages such as SPSS, SAS, Stata or R (or similar).
- Excel/Access.
- Genomic and evolutionary analysis tools such as MEGA, Geneious, PhyML or BEAST (or similar).
- Python/command line programming.
- Knowledge of viral disease threats, such as dengue, influenza, and adenovirus infections and the ability to explore other emerging and re-emerging viral diseases.
- Shall be able to read, write, and speak English well enough to effectively communicate with all patients and other health care providers.
- Shall possess sufficient initiative, interpersonal relationship skills and social sensitivity such that he/she can relate constructively to a variety of clinical trial patients from diverse backgrounds.
- Must be a US Citizen or US resident.
