BASIC FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITY Communication Center based coordination of complex appointment scheduling, linking consults and ancillary services required for assigned specialties across multiple service lines. Receive inbound contacts (multi-line calls, Transition of Care, emails, faxes, etc.) from patients, providers, and healthcare teams requesting services performed within MUHC. CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES Responsible for multi-disciplinary scheduling across multiple service lines. Provide patients with information on providers, directions to locations and special instructions. Interview caller to obtain full understanding of information being requested. Maintain strong working relationship with healthcare team by promotion of teamwork and communication center success. Monitor calls and distribute work to team and/or sections for completion of requests/needs. Responsible for satisfying the customer and maintaining the image of MUHC. Participate in training and observation of new team members Exhibits proactive problem solving skills, monitor patient access metrics and standards, which includes develop and coordinator resolution to access barriers when necessary. Request, prepare and ensure the completeness of the patient medical record and physician orders. Demonstrate working knowledge of PC word processing, spread sheets and applications such as IDX/GE, Cerner, etc. appropriately within introductory period SUPERVISION RECEIVED Supervision is received from an appropriate supervisor, as determined by the department manager. Employee receives little instruction on day-to-day work and receives general instruction on new assignments. QUALIFICATIONS High school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities can be obtained is required. Minimum of one year related experience in medical office, hospital, medical call center or similar customer service environment is required. Education maybe used in lieu of work experience. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department.
