Salary Range: $68,266 - $111,426 base rate (final salary based on work experience)

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

* Lead program development and implementation by adopting a proactive approach to

* behavior management. Address issues before they escalate.

* Develop and implement a comprehensive program to identify at-risk patients, create consistent management plans, and train staff on appropriate approaches via formalized education programs, in collaboration with the Center for Education and Development.

* Lead and participate in hospital committees and task forces related to patient safety and behavioral health.

* Develop and implement evidence-based programs and protocols to address behavioral health issues.

* Ensure all programs and protocols align with current best practices and regulatory requirements.

* Engage in risk assessment and management activities by conducting regular safety audits and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions related to using restraints, behavioral plans, and environmental modifications.

* Develop effective response strategies for situations where proactive measures are not sufficient.

* Champion patient care and safety by the development and implementation of patient safety policies and procedures specific to the utilization of least restrictive interventions.

* Coordinate and implement individualized behavior management plans for patients with behavioral health needs in collaboration with healthcare teams.

* Assist in the development of protocols for managing patients with behavioral health needs, including those at risk of self-harm or harm to others.

* Provide training and support to staff on effective behavior management techniques and de-escalation strategies.

* Develop and deliver ongoing education and training programs for hospital staff on patient safety, behavior management, and related topics.

* Assist in orientation for new employees on patient safety and behavior management policies and procedures.

* Develop and distribute educational materials to support staff in effective behavioral health issue management.

* Lead the team of facilitators to deliver education and serve as a mentor for the professional development of facilitators.

* Remain current with industry standards and system-wide ever-changing needs, utilizing data trends to monitor and revise evidence-based practices.

* In collaboration with frontline clinicians and clinical leaders, monitor EMR daily for behavioral plan flags and round with caregivers to ensure plans are in place and effective.

* Communicate and collaborate closely with clinical teams, including physicians, nurses, social workers, and therapists, to ensure a coordinated approach to patient safety and behavior management.

* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and leaders including nursing, physicians, social workers, administration, and security to enhance the quality of patient care.

* Facilitate effective communication and collaboration among staff to enhance patient care and safety.

* Coordinate root cause analyses and investigations of behavioral escalation incidents and near-misses.

* Maintain and analyze patient restraint and escalation data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.

* Monitor the effectiveness of behavior management plans and adjust as necessary.

* Continuously monitor and evaluate the program's effectiveness and the effectiveness of individual patient plans.

* Serve as liaison to risk management and frontline clinicians when implementing behavioral plans to ensure the policy is followed and the plan is actionable.

* Serve as subject matter expert for behavioral plan interventions.

* Ensure compliance with all relevant federal, state, and local regulations and accreditation standards, specifically related to the utilization of restraints and patient rights regarding patients with behavioral health issues.

* Prepare and submit required reports to regulatory agencies and hospital leadership.

* Serve as a liaison between the hospital and regulatory agencies during inspections and audits, provide functional direction to collaborate with risk and regulatory affairs to ensure reports are provided for regulatory reviews and the program meets regulatory needs as outlined in standards.

* May complete unit/department-specific duties as outlined in department documents.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Three (3) years of clinical experience, which provides knowledge, and understanding of patient care, behavioral health issue management, and clinical leadership.

One of the following:

* Master of Social Work degree, or Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW), or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) licensure by the Missouri State Committee for Social Workers board; or

* Missouri Board of Nursing RN or Nurse Licensure Compact multi-state RN. When primary state of residency changes, compact state RNs must apply under new state of residency within thirty (30) days; or

* Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) by the Missouri Committee for Professional Counselors board; or

* Licensed Psychologist by the Missouri Committee of Psychologists board; or

* Behavior Analyst licensure by the Missouri Behavior Analyst Advisory Board AND Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certification by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Experience with behavioral health issues and interventions.

Three (3) years of experience in a supervisory role. Experience in an educational or learning setting.

Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met with or without reasonable accommodation. The performance of these physical demands is an essential function of the job. This position is very active and requires ambulating, reaching, demonstration of physical hold techniques, and moving objects weighing up to and over 20 lbs.

This role also routinely comes into contact with patients who may have contagious illneses. This position is in a health care facility open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Occasional evenings and weekends required.
