Description

Shift: Full Time Night shifts (7p-7:30a), 3 12s a week, including weekend and holiday shifts
Department: Various Clusters such as ICU and MED SURG Clusters - clusters determined in interview based on departmental need and applicant experience and updated through years of service
Salary Range: Flat Rate: $47.52/hour
Shift Differentials: $2.75/hr evening shift differential, $4.00/hr night shift differential, $3.00/hr weekend shift differential (weekend evening and weekend nights compounding)

For a limited time, sign-on bonuses will be available to eligible candidates for this position on a first-come, first-serve basis. This position will float amongst several areas within MU HEALTH CARE and is required to float within the various Med Surg and ICU Clusters providing professional nursing care.

ABOUT THE JOB

The Inpatient Float Pool Staff Nurse is responsible for delivering exceptional nursing care to patients by utilizing strong organizational and leadership skills to assess patient status, implement clinical nursing interventions to modify symptoms and develop and implement patient care plans to enhance and improve outcomes and ensure a safe and therapeutic environment. This position requires the ability to float to designated nursing unit clusters or shifts to meet staffing needs.

This position may be required to access and administer medications within their scope of practice and according to state law.

This position requires the ability to float to designated nursing unit clusters and shifts to meet staffing needs throughout MU Health Care.

Units/clusters include University Hospital, Women's Hospital, Children's Hospital, MUPC, MOI, and CRMC. Clusters are chosen on hire and updated through years of service.

DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION

Assess the patient's condition and nursing needs, set goals, and prescribe appropriate nursing actions to meet those goals and the physical, psychological, social, and rehabilitative needs of the patient, including discharge planning.

Assess, intervene, and reassess the patient's self-report/symptoms of pain promptly. Utilize an appropriate tool for assessment and reassessment.

Demonstrate an understanding of medications regarding action and side effects. Report pertinent information to the appropriate individual. Educate patients and significant others about their medications.

Demonstrate the ability to evaluate the effectiveness of nursing interventions in accomplishing goals and intended patient care outcomes.

Maintain the standards of nursing care and implement the policies and procedures of the hospital and assigned nursing unit.

Participate in meetings, in-services, and quality and performance improvement groups.

Report pertinent observations and reactions regarding patients to the appropriate person (i.e. physicians, head nurse, charge nurse, or nursing supervisor) and record those observations accurately and concisely.

Provide quality care to patients and work with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure the highest patient satisfaction.

May complete unit/department-specific duties as outlined in department documents.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Missouri Board of Nursing RN or Nurse Licensure Compact multi-state RN. When primary state of residency changes, compact state RNs must apply under new state of residency within thirty (30) days.

One (1) year of acute care RN experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

One (1) year of service within MU Health Care.

Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met with or without reasonable accommodation. The performance of these physical demands is an essential function of the job. This position is very active and requires ambulating, reaching, and moving objects weighing up to and over 20 lbs.

This role also routinely comes into contact with patients who may have contagious illnesses. This position is in a health care facility open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Rotating shifts as well as holiday and work during inclement weather will be required.
