Clinical Psychologist, Transdiagnostic Service

The Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Manhattan office, is seeking to hire a full-time transdiagnostic psychologist to join our established team of clinicians, and provide excellent care using evidenced based and targeted intervention treatment methods. This is a full-time position. Knowledge of underlying factors that contribute to mental health disorders in children and adolescents is required. Experience in conducting diagnostic evaluations for a wide range of childhood disorders, including anxiety, mood, and disruptive behavior disorders is required. The position carries an academic appointment within the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, which is one of only two independent child and adolescent psychiatry departments within an academic medical center in the nation. Ideal candidates are energetic clinicians with a commitment to clinical and academic excellence and an aptitude and enthusiasm for outpatient practice. Experience in identifying core cognitive, emotional, or behavioral processes that are relevant across different disorders is desired. Ideally, expertise in diagnostic evaluation, proficiency in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Behavior Therapy and Parent Management Training is encouraged.Candidate must be willing to conduct workshops and webinars (e.g., for parents/teachers).

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:



  • Provide evaluations of new patients and complete written reports in a timely manner;
  • Provide evidence-based psychotherapeutic treatments to children, adolescents, adults and their families;
  • Provide timely and accurate completion of medical records;
  • Participate in research activities when appropriate;
  • Meet all on-call and coverage responsibilities;
  • Provide sufficient evening and/or weekend hours to provide appropriate clinical care;
  • Provide teaching and supervision of residents, medical students, psychology and other trainees assigned by the Clinical Director of the Child Study Center;
  • Attend at least 80% of the case conferences and grand rounds;
  • Maintain 80% attendance at general administrative meetings (FGP all hands, service meetings, etc.);
  • Participate in 2-3 direct activities that support our department's mission to disseminate evidence-based information, including providing Child Study Center parent workshops, writing for the website, speaking on DoctorRadio and/or equivalent annually;
  • Obtain and/or maintain board certification or equivalent;
  • Adhere to the code of ethics of your professional organization and the medical center;
  • Notify the Clinical Director in a timely manner of all planned vacations and absences;
  • Be license eligible in New York State and have New York State License by start date of position.

Minimum Qualifications



  • Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Psychology from an APA or CPA accredited institution
  • Completion of APA or CPA accredited pre-doctoral internship
  • Licensed or license eligible in the State of New York


Minimum Annual Salary: $111,351

Maximum Annual Salary: $116,000

* Includes an academic appointment at NYU Grossman School of Medicine at a rank commensurate with experience and qualifications

* The salary range listed is for full-time employment and does not include incentive compensation or benefits. Actual salary may not fall within the listed salary range; consideration will be made for experience, training, hospital/community need, and other factors.
