Sr. Manager, GPU Performance Engineering

THE ROLE:

As part of our team, you'll be responsible for ensuring that AMD Instinct GPU-accelerated systems are operating at peak performance before being deployed to solve the world's most challenging problems. We're looking for a highly motivated candidate with expertise in GPU performance and familiarity with performance monitoring and tuning tools. The ideal candidate should also possess data science and communication skills to effectively convey their findings to engineering and business teams.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead a team of performance engineers, providing strong, technical guidance and career development support.
  • Actively participate and pace the team, leading by example through regular hands-on work.
  • Provide project management for the team, including planning, timelines, resource allocation and risk management. Track progress and resolve any blocking issues.
  • Deliver team tasks on time with high quality, supporting the performance team's roadmap.
  • Drive strategic plans for the team, including vision, resource management and roadmap.
  • Drive innovation and efficiency in performance practices, taking full advantage of agile methodologies.
  • Continuously assess and improve processes and practices. Implement best practices in performance measurement, reporting and quality assurance.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends. Evaluate and recommend ways to enhance the team's effectiveness.
  • Provide clear and timely communication related to status and other key aspects of the projects to leadership.
  • Support cross-functional collaboration with other departments, determining priorities and understanding requirements.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • 7+ years of software or hardware engineering work experience, including 3+ years of hands-on technical management.
  • Solid knowledge of Artificial Intelligence (AI) concepts and techniques, including deep learning, reinforcement learning, natural language processing, generative AI, and computer vision, as well as practical experience applying these concepts to solve real-world problems through research or work experience.
  • Experience in benchmarking methodologies, performance analysis, workload profiling, performance monitoring and debugging tools. Hands-on experience with designing and deploying benchmarks a plus.
  • Proven track record in managing engineering projects from conception to delivery utilizing Agile methodologies.
  • Advanced Linux OS, container (e.g. Docker) and GitHub skills
  • Programming skills with relevant languages such as Python or C/C++
  • Expertise with deep learning frameworks like PyTorch and TensorFlow
  • Excellent leadership and team-building skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with various stakeholders.

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or related equivalent from top university
