ANALYGENCE has an opportunity for a Technical Writer to join our team supporting DHS CISA Integrated Operations Division (IOD). CISA's mission is to lead the national effort to protect and enhance the resilience of the nation's physical and cyber infrastructure. The Technical Writer must have expert writing skills that focus on making their documentation concise, focused, easy to understand, free of errors, and audience based. This position offers remote work and team members must maintain a dedicated home workspace within 50-75 miles of Arlington, VA to support onsite if required.



  • Drive the creation of documentation methodology and framework, and maintain consistency and efficiency conducting research as required, to include benchmarking best practices at other agencies, and document recommendations.
  • Write, edit, and publish strategy, doctrine, policy directives, operational plans, SOPs (including metrics and measures), and checklists, including improvements to documentation and writing processes and standards, and produce reports, briefings, talking points or other products in support of IOD/subdivisions as required.
  • Apply knowledge of effective writing principles and practices executing day-to-day functional activities applying IOD/subdivision processes, procedures, work instructions, and checklists, to develop and refine the IOD Suite of Plans (both steady-state and contingency plans) in accordance with the CISA style guide, CISA Knowledge Management processes, and the CISA/SPP Policy and Governance Frameworks.
  • Must have current Secret clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree required in English, Journalism, Communications, or related subject.
  • Minimum 5-10 years of technical writing experience including developing communications deliverables such as documentation, plans, action reports, and meeting minutes for internal and external audiences.
  • Demonstrates excellent facility with Adobe Products and the Microsoft programs Teams, Planner, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Power BI. Has background in Drupal or other content management systems and experience using SharePoint repositories.
  • Experience preparing, reviewing, editing, and maintaining technical communications deliverables including program technical documents, standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, concepts of operation (CONOPS), manuals, and meeting minutes.
  • Ability to work under pressure with planners, analysts, leads, and subject-matter experts in a fast-paced environment to ensure timely product release. Coordinates with team members to obtain necessary input data.
  • Writes and edits content according to the plain language principles described in The Plain Writing Act of 2010. Can apply rules from both the AP Stylebook and style guides developed by government agencies.
  • Shows an ability to evaluate material, reorganize into a more logical structure, and condense content into a compelling narrative that engages the target audience. Can edit difficult and complex material into language comprehensible to non-specialists.
  • Possesses knowledge in techniques to design and develop written products that convey essential ideas. Recognizes the significance of visual or physical designs to increase understanding.
  • Has knowledge of Section 508 principles and has hands-on experience making documents and presentations accessible to all individuals, regardless of disability.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite to include Teams or similar workplace chat and videoconferencing tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
