Intake Admission Coordinator - Psychiatry - Days

This position is for the Intake Admission Coordinator for the Health Practitioners' Monitoring Program (HPMP), whose goal is to provide each practitioner with the identification and monitoring of the appropriate treatment recovery process to achieve and maintain optimal physical, mental and emotional health in order to promote self and patient safety. The Department of Health Professions (DHP) contracts with the Department of Psychiatry at VCU Health to provide confidential services for health practitioners enrolled in the HPMP. The HPMP provides an alternative to disciplinary action by providing comprehensive and effective monitoring services toward the goal of each participant's return to sage and productive practice.

The role of the Intake Admission Coordinator is to conduct an initial medical/mental health/substance abuse intake via telephone screening under Program Administrative Director and/or Medical Director supervision to determine eligibility and initial monitoring needs of individuals entering the HMP. Recognize and intervene in emergent situations with referral of participants to the highest level of care appropriate for their impairment needs. Manage all aspects of participant progress into the program including development and implementation of participation contracts and administrative documentation of all aspects of program participants. Provide education to participants regarding impaired health professionals and the HPMP.

Licensure, Certification or Registration Requirements for Hire:

Registered Nurse (RN), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Clinical Psychologist (LCP) Certified Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC) or any healthcare related licensure or certification. Acceptable to be 'in application' for any level of healthcare license/certificate, including trainee

License, Certification or Registration Requirements for continued employment: Current RN, LCSW, LPC, LCP, CSAC, or other healthcare licensure preferred; however, trainee certificates or licensure acceptable while in process of obtaining full licensure

Experience REQUIRED: At least one year of working in a healthcare related position.

Experience PREFERRED:

Previous experience working with crisis intervention, addiction treatment, mental health treatment, completing psychosocial assessments, triage/clinical screening experience, and case management.

Education/training REQUIRED:

Master's degree in a healthcare related field (e.g. Healthcare Administration, Allied Health, etc.) from an accredited program.

Education/training PREFERRED:

Master's Degree in Human Services (e.g. Counseling, Social Work, Rehabilitation Counseling, Nursing, etc.) from an accredited program.

Independent action(s) required:

Using electronic record keeping system, the Intake Coordinator will complete bio-psycho-social interviews with potential participants then staff with team determination of monitoring services next steps.

Uses knowledge of participant's presenting problems, urgency of clinical needs, and expertise of various providers, in collaboration with team, to make appropriate need decisions.

Works with assistant to send out and track enrollment packets for participation.

Is the first contact for program understanding and support; must be able to provide details to individuals in crisis mindset in a supportive, clear manner.

Functions under the direct supervision of Program Administrative Director and Medical Director.

Scheduling new participant orientation and completing detailed case transfer information to transfer cases to the ongoing case manager.

Supervisory responsibilities (if applicable):

Will supervisor, in collaboration with another case manager and/or Program Administrative Director, shared case manager assistant.

Additional position requirements:

Ability to present case history, concisely and factually, before licensing Board(s) at DHP on occasion.

Ability to write clear, fact-based, detailed reports to be presented to oversight committee and licensing Board(s).
