NYU Langone Hospital - Brooklyn, in New York City, is actively recruiting for two acute care, critical care, trauma general surgeons. The ideal candidate must be board certified or board eligible by the American Board of Surgery and fellowship trained in trauma and critical care with an interest in acute care surgery. Strong minimally invasive surgery skills are highly desired.

Faculty members within the Division must possess a desire to commit to all three missions of the department and school of medicine, including the clinical, education, and research missions. Regarding the education mission, faculty members are expected to regularly participate in the education of medical students, residents, and fellows. Regarding research, a commitment to any one of a broad array of research interests is desirable, including but not limited to clinical, outcomes, health services, basic science, translational, ethics, education, or global surgery research. Regarding the clinical mission, faculty members must be committed to delivering high-quality clinical care that is of value to the patients in our community. In addition, faculty members participate in collaborative hospital-wide committees. The selected candidate must be team-oriented and be able to interact well with colleagues inside and outside the Division.

This position will expand our Emergency General Surgery/Acute Care/Trauma division which currently handles 350 Level 1 activations/year, 1000 Level 2 activations/year, 1800 trauma consults and 600 operative cases/year. Clinical responsibilities will include trauma, emergency general surgery, and surgical critical care coverage. Candidate will join the division alongside seven other acute care surgeons.

NYU Langone Hospital - Brooklyn is the first American College of Surgeons verified Level 1 trauma center in New York City and represents the Brooklyn campus of the NYU Langone Health system, a world-class, patient-centered, academic medical center and one of the nation's premier centers for excellence in clinical care, biomedical research, and medical education. Faculty appointment at NYU Grossman School of Medicine will be at the Assistant or Associate Professor level commensurate with experience. Recent Graduates considered.

Current NYS Medical License.

Current Board Certification or Board Eligibility (American Board of Surgery) in General Surgery.

Fellowship trained in Trauma and Critical Care.

Strong Minimally Invasive Surgery skillset is ideal.
