Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Electroneurodiangostic (EEG) Tech.

In this role, the successful candidate Performs Video, Electroencephalographic and standard EEG procedures as requested. Operates equipment to record electrical activity of the brain readings. Monitors patient heart and brain activity during procedures. Prepares study files for interpretation by a physician. Documents patient activity during exams. Maintains equipment and troubleshoots technical problems and works with vendors and IT to resolve.

Job Responsibilities:

    • Performs Video-Electroencephalographic procedures for patients as ordered by physicians (in department, patient room, intensive care unit, Pediatrics dept, Emergency room, and other nursing units as required).
    • Maintains stock of supply inventory.
    • Assists in compiling patient demographic data for the purposes of billing.
    • Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care based on physical, psychosocial, educational, safety and age-related criteria pertinent to the patients served in his/her assigned area.
    • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

    • Assists with maintenance of Department equipment and supplies.
    • Communicates pending work and/or problematic issues directly to Cardiologist and/or supervisor.
    • Abstracts relevant information from patient's clinical record and obtains additional information by questioning. Writes a technical report under supervision, which serves as a preliminary report to the patient's physician.
    • Properly obtains standard recording, recognizes artifacts and takes appropriate steps to eliminate them. Documents all abnormal clinical manifestations observed during the exam.
    • Selects predetermined electrode combinations as well as special combinations.
    • Calibrates and adjusts the EEG apparatus in accordance with standard procedures.
    • Emails the scheduled Neurologist to notify of all examinations requiring a reading on a daily basis, as well as following up on studies that were previously sent for readings, that are still unread.
    • Applies suitable electrodes on pre-determined measured positions on the patient's head, and checks their performance.
    • Receives assignment. Prepares patient. Explains procedures and assures patient's cooperation during exam.
    • Performs standard electroencephalographic procedures for patients as ordered by physicians (in department, patient room, intensive care unit).
    • Troubleshoots all technical issues with the assistance of the internal IT department, the vendor and the bio-medical department until the issues have been adequately resolved.
    • Performs hyperventilation and photic stimulation studies as needed.
    • Adequately adjusts the acquisition video cameras so that the patient is in full view at all times and that the patient seizure notification is functional.
    • Writes in the progress section of the patient's chart after making daily rounds.
    • Ensures that all review stations are functioning properly on a daily basis.
    • Verifies the acquisition data is adequately displayed and functional at the nursing station.
    • Assists in escorting the patient back to the nursing unit and ensures that the acquisition unit is placed on the network.
    • Hooks up patients for the VEEG examination with use of Collodium or another suitable adhesive along with the appropriate head dressing in adequately for long term monitoring.

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a High School Diploma
EEG Certification from a Neurodiagnostic training program , or a minimum of 5 years experience of supervised training in an academic facility. Candidate will demonstrate experience in ICU, Med / Surg, Pediatric, NICU settings..

Preferred Licenses: Electroneurodiagnostic Technic

Preferred Qualifications:
Associates or Bachelors Degree
EEG Certification from an Accredited Neurodiagnostic training program (CAAHEP or MSA-CESS)
ABRET Certified (Graduates from an accredited program can sit for ABRET registration exam)
ABRET Registered (The candidate has passed the examination and has a registration number)

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $34.11-$34.11 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
