JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS: The Eberly College of Science is seeking an Academic Adviser-Senior Professional to be part of an advising team focused on students pursuing the majors of Premedicine and Integrative Science and any Penn State student interested in a health professional school for medical, dental, podiatry, optometry, and physician assistant. Duties will include providing academic advising to assigned students, assisting students in navigating University policies and procedures and program curriculum, and coordinating special events and programs which directly assist undergraduate students. The selected candidate will also be responsible for the following:
The successful candidate will work closely with the Director of the Science Advising Center, the Director of the Premedicine major, the Director of the Integrative Science major and the Assistant Dean for Undergraduate Students and to support the mission of health professions advising. We are seeking an individual who is committed to working with the advising team to provide high quality service to students and who will work to enhance the climate for the diverse student population in the College. This position typically requires a Master's degree or higher plus four to seven years of related experience. Eight to ten years of related experience is preferred. Applicants with a background in science and marketing are preferred. The successful candidate will have a strong background in academic advising with a proven track record and commitment to serving diverse student populations. Other required skills include attention to detail, excellent verbal and written communication, and proficiency using MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Canva, and podcast production are desirable.
