JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Department of Geosciences in the College of Earth and Mineral Sciences is seeking a Mass Spectrometer Research Tech (Lab Coordinator-Physical Sciences) to provide excellent customer service while facilitating research involving stable isotopes of organic materials and mass spectrometers.

What You'll Do:

  • Maintain and operate analytical laboratory instrumentation. Tasks include implementing established procedures and evaluating the quality of analyses using standards.

  • Assist in the development and modification of procedures and standards for lab operations for diverse sample types and research objectives.

  • Coordinate daily operations of the lab, including purchasing supplies and maintaining standards, scheduling instrument time, keeping appropriate records, training and supervising students, and ensuring safe practices.

  • Help organize data/findings for use in technical reports, documents, or oral/written presentations.

Required Qualifications:

This position is being filled at either the Professional or Intermediate Professional level. Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree or higher plus one year of related experience, an equivalent combination of education and experience. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher-level jobs.

Additional Information:

This is a limited-term appointment funded for one year from the date of hire with the possibility of re-funding.

The pay range for this position, including all possible grades is:

$38,300.00 - $61,000.00
