JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Penn State's College of Earth and Mineral Sciences (EMS) seeks a highly motivated and experienced professional to serve as a Post-Award Coordinator in the Office of the Associate Dean for Graduate Education and Research.

The EMS Research Office provides proposal preparation support and grant administration services for a $70 million per year college research enterprise. College-level research administrators are a vital part of Penn State's vibrant research community which boasts annual research expenditure of $1.2 billion and ranks among the top 30 public research universities in the nation. The selected candidate will join a highly respected team of pre-award and post-award professionals in a high-volume, fast-paced, innovative, and service-first environment.

Responsibilities
The Post-Award Coordinator is responsible for the administrative and financial management of all sponsored research awards for their designated college sub-units.This position requires demonstrated experience with the following tasks :

  • Initial grant setup includes reviewing all award documents to identify reporting requirements, deliverables, and terms and conditions; and initiating the grant account setup in the university financial system.

  • Budget initiation and modification including identifying the appropriate budget structure for each award, creating budget spreadsheets and templates, and uploading the budget to the university financial system.

  • Subaward administration including initiating the subaward process, modifying the subaward as needed over the life of the award, monitoring expenditures for compliance, and processing all invoices for payment.

  • Financial analysis and reporting including monitoring award balances, preparing and submitting sponsor-format financial reports, monitoring and reporting cost share expenditures, and providing invoice backup detail as required.

  • Compliance assessment and issue resolution leveraging a broad understanding of university research policies and the federal Uniform Guidance to inform responses to faculty and staff inquiries regarding the allowability of expenditures, required approvals, and process steps needed given a specific award's terms and conditions.

  • Closeout actions coordinatingthe completion of all administrative tasks, forms, and certifications required to officially close completed awards and sub-awards.

Work Arrangement
The EMS Research Office is supportive of flexible work arrangements aligned with the ability to meet the needs of the unit and the essential duties of the position. The location of this position is flexible and can operate remotely within the United States. Standard working hours are in the Eastern time zone.

Education and Experience
This position will be filled as a Proposal and Award Generalist - Advanced Professional level and it requires a Bachelor's Degree or higher and three or more years of experience in research administration or related positions, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades is:

$56,200.00 - $81,500.00
