JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Communications, Information, and Navigation Office (CINO) in the Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) at Penn State University is seeking several highly motivated graduate students for research opportunities. These positions cover a broad range of academic and engineering disciplines in all aspects of communications and signal processing, cyber information, navigation research, geospatial data science, and advanced science and technology.

ARL is an authorized DoD SkillBridge partner and welcomes all transitioning military members to apply.

You will:

  • Use accepted methods and techniques to assist with the design, development, implementation, and analysis of technical engineering products, systems, and subsystems

  • Contribute to experiments/tests in the laboratory/field to test, prove, or modify theoretical propositions on basis of research findings and experiences of others researching in related technical areas; may include taking measurements and recording observations, collecting, compiling, and processing data

  • Contribute data/findings for use in technical reports, documents, research, or oral/written presentations

  • Interact in a collaborative manner with other team members, engineers, and scientists to accomplish organizational goals; may provide ideas to improve efficiency at group level

Applicants with a strong interest and experience in the following will be given preference:

  • Signal processing

  • Cyber forensics and cybersecurity

  • Quantum Science

  • Modeling and simulation

  • Software development

  • Visualization and data science

The successful candidates will work up to 40 hours/week over the summer and 20 hours/week during the fall and spring semesters.

Minimally requires a Bachelors Degree and in an Engineering or Science discipline and be enrolled in Masters Degree program or higher.

You must be a U.S. Citizen to apply. Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation. Employment with the Applied Research Laboratory will require successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen.
