JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Penn State Greater Allegheny seeks an Academic Adviser. The academic advising position is dedicated to guiding students in planning a program of study that aligns with their goals and interests. The adviser ensures that students understand how to access and use University academic information and make informed decisions to support their academic and personal success, as well as degree attainment. Key Responsibilities:
This position requires a master's degree or higher plus one year of work-related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.The successful candidate will have a background in academic advising with a proven track record and commitment to serving diverse student populations.Competencies critical to success include excellent interpersonal and communication skills, strong attention to detail, commitment to honor and integrity, sensitivity to the needs of others, ability to work independently and as part of a team, effective knowledge of computer applications, and efficiently manage time, balance multiple responsibilities, and adapt to change. This position requires the following clearances: PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA ChildAbuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check. CAMPUS SECURITY CRIME STATISTICS: Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act and the Pennsylvania Act of 1988, Penn State publishes a combined Annual Security and Annual Fire Safety Report (ASR). The ASR includes crime statistics and institutional policies concerning campus security, such as those concerning alcohol and drug use, crime prevention, the reporting of crimes, sexual assault, and other matters.
