The Department of Neurology at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Brunswick, NJ part of Rutgers- the State University of New Jersey, seeks a full time faculty to start on July 1, 2021. Function as Chief of the Division of Neuromuscular Disorders in the Department of Neurology. Board-eligible or certified neurologists with strong interests in clinical research and teaching.
Participate in clinical care of patients with neurological disorders in the sub-specialty of Neuromuscular Disorders according to a schedule determined by the Chair.
1.Function as the Division Chief of Neuromuscular Disorders
2.Oversee the MDA-designated ALS Center of Excellence
3.Function as the Chief of the Electromyograoghy (EMG) Laboratory at RWJBH-NB
4.Supervisor of Division Faculty
5.Care for patients with neuromuscular disorders in the outpatient and hospital settings
6.Perform electrodiagnostic tests in both the outpatient and hospital settings
7.Attend on the consult service at the RWJUH according to a schedule determined by the Chair
8.Participate in night and weekend call
9.Participate in the educational activities of the Department including lecturing students and residents, and supervision of the resident clinic
10.Participate in the administrative activities of the Department
11.Participate in the clinical neuromuscular research program
12.Participate in the General Neurology clinic at RWJ and satellite clinics as needed
13.Participate in the teaching mission of RWJMS to the extent determined in consultation with the Department Chair. This will include teaching and mentoring fellows, teaching Neurology residents and rotating residents in the inpatient and outpatient settings in small group seminars; teaching medical students in the inpatient and outpatient settings in small group seminars or in formal lectures in the pre-clinical setting.
14.Participate in the community service responsibilities of the department such as providing neurological care for indigent patients, teaching or advising lay community groups in the area of neurological disorders according to a schedule to be determined by the Chair
15.Participate in the consult rotation and the weekend call schedules
16.Attend departmental and institutional faculty/other meetings
17.Participate in administrative tasks including membership in standing or ad hoc departmental and institutional committees
18.Perform other duties as required. The Division of Neurology includes nationally and internationally recognized faculty with a proud record of productivity in clinical and translational research and excellent regional and national reputations as a clinical referral targets. The department has 27 full time faculty, 12 residents and 5 nationally recognized centers of excellence. Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital is the primary teaching hospital for the medical school. |

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience |
MD
Candidates must be graduates of an ACGME- accredited neurology residency, be board certified or eligible in neurology; have completed a fellowship in neuromuscular disorders or related clinical neurosciences and be eligible for a New Jersey License. Rank and track will be consistent with qualifications. |
