The Rutgers-Camden Faculty of Arts and Sciences Dean's Office is seeking instructors to lead its
MCAT workshop course that is offered to undergraduate students for academic credit. The course may utilize materials from a test preparation company such as Kaplan and will be supplemented by American Association of Medical Colleges (
AAMC) materials and direct instruction.
We seek instructors who can teach at least one of the following sections:
* Biological and Biochemical Foundations of Living Systems;
* Chemical and Physical Foundations of Biological Systems;
* Psychological, Social, and Biological Foundations of Behavior; and
In-person teaching in Camden, NJ is strongly preferred but we will consider offering a section through synchronous virtual instruction if in-person teaching is not possible. Two of the four topics on the
MCAT will be addressed each class session, which will be held one afternoon a week. The other two topics will be taught the following week. An instructor teaching one section therefore will attend class only once every other week. Instructors should expect to spend approximately 2 hours every other week instructing students, with additional time allotted for grading and office hours.
Primary responsibilities of the
MCAT Workshop instructors will include:
* Create and maintain course syllabus with co-instructors, based on template utilized in prior years
* Develop content for selected area for the semester
* Maintain attendance and grade records
* Assign final grades in consultation with co-instructors
* Provide tips, resources, guides, etc. to support and supplement instruction
* Be available to students for questions after class / via email
* Work closely with the
RUC Learning Center Staff for all matters related to classroom management
* Work closely with
FAS Dean's Office for academic matters and final grade submission |

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience |
Applicants must have minimum score of 129 on one or more of the 4 sections of the
MCAT exam obtained since 2015. Minimum B.A. or current B.A. degree candidate required. Prior tutoring / teaching experience preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Zoom. Familiarity with Canvas preferred. Strong interpersonal and intercultural communication skills. Effective time management and organizational skills. Attention to detail. |
