Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Laboratory Assistant for NJMS- PHRI CENTER. The primary purpose of the Laboratory Assistant is to conduct research in host-virus interaction using clinical samples and animal models in Dr. Theresa L. Chang's laboratory.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:

  • Conducts experiments, carry out assignments in the laboratory and help manage the laboratory.
  • Analyzes data with appropriate conclusions and recommendations in a weekly group meeting.
  • Assists new students and lab members as assigned by Dr. Chang.
  • Understands and adheres to Rutgers compliance standards as they appear in RBHS' Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy.

Minimum Education and Experience
  • BS in the field of infectious diseases, immunology, or cell biology preferred
Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • The candidate must be mature and highly motivated.
  • Although the prior research experience is not required, the candidate needs to be a quick learner.
  • Great communication and organization, time management skills are essential.
  • Should have basic knowledge in molecular biology, cell biology, or immunology.
  • The candidate should have basic knowledge of laboratory experience in school or prior positions.
  • Must have an excellent communication skill.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Candidates who are familiar with handling tissue cultures, infectious agents, ELISA, multi-color FACS analysis, real-time PCR analysis, or immunofluorescent microscopy are preferred.
