Our Opening and Your Responsibilities
Role/Purpose:
Under the general direction of an Assembly Manager, the Assembly Lead provides direction
and instructions to Assemblers in either mechanical and/or electrical groups to enable
them to complete tasks quickly, effectively, safely and of excellent quality.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
  • Act as first responder or SME to resolve for tier 1 escalations to assembly cells when issues arise
  • Troubleshoot any unit in their Value Stream (VS)
  • Provide knowledge, experience, motivation, support and advice on cell issues
  • Assemble systems as designed
  • Update resource planner and crating report
  • Enter QN tags
  • Monitor Return to Stock (RTS) process
  • Understand SAP, COOIS/DCP systems
  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere by performing and communicating in a manner that promotes good relationships with customers, clients, co-workers, and management
  • Drive production and keep assemblers focused
  • Be a steward for excellent quality
  • Monitor missing parts on newspaper
  • Conduct daily floor walk to determine cell status and recommend solutions on how to improve cell output
  • Support and at times run daily startup meeting, production floor walk, and Gemba walk when Assembly Manager is unavailable
  • Escalate tier 2 cell issues to Assembly Manager promptly and in a concise manner
  • Conduct hands on training to Assemblers on basic and advanced machine building
  • processes; Train new and existing assemblers in their VS Document and record assembly hours and cell floor disturbances using provided tools and software
  • Support 5S program and perform audits as needed throughout Assembly area
  • Maintain a safe work environment by adhering to all MT safety policies
  • Frequent bending, reaching, kneeling and occasional lying on the ground to complete required work
  • Standing for extended periods of time (up to 8 hours)
  • Frequently lifts and/or moves up to 10lbs
  • Occasionally lifts and/or moves up to 50lbs
  • Other duties as assigned
What You Need to Succeed
Knowledge, Skills, Attitude:
  • Electrical and/or mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to use basic hand tools, drills, pneumatic hand tools, and other industry shop tools and equipment
  • Ability to interpret engineering assembly drawings, schematic and BOM
  • Excellent problem solver/troubleshooting skills
  • Quality focused
  • Attention to details
  • Good time management
  • Ability to work with limited supervision
  • Mentoring skills; ability to train others
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Self starter
  • Ability to consistently meet deadlines
  • Computer literate (Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Ability to safely lift 50 lbs. and work in multiple positions (ie Stand, sit, lay, squat, bend, kneel) for prolonged periods of time
  • Knowledge and understanding of 5S and Lean Manufacturing principles
  • Safety Conscious

This position is considered safety sensitive and is subject to drug testing as permitted by law.

**OVERTIME MAY BE REQUIRED BASED ON BUSINESS NEEDS.**

Minimum Education / Experience Required:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Level III Assembler in a respective discipline at MT
and/or
  • 3-5 years minimum experience in electrical and/or mechanical assembly of industrial machines
