Minimum Education and Experience

EDU EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

Graduated from a Physician Assistant Program approved by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP). Certification from the National Commission for Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA). New Jersey License from the State Board of Medical Examiners-Physician Advisory Committee. In the case of a new graduate, they may be considered under the condition that he/she successfully takes and passes the Certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants and the New Jersey License examination from the State Board of Medical Examiners-Physician Assistant Advisory Committee on the first available date following his/her graduation. BLS is required. All requirements must be met prior to employment with the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey.

Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Examines patient, performs comprehensive physical examination, and compiles patient medical data, including health history and results of physical examination.

Administers or orders diagnostic tests, such as imaging, audiology and laboratory tests, and interprets test results for deviations from normal.

Performs therapeutic procedures such as injections, suturing and wound care, and managing infection.

Develops and implements patient management plans, records progress notes, and assists in provisions of continuity of care.

Instructs and counsels patients regarding compliance with prescribed therapeutic regimens.

Peri-operative management of surgical patients.

Inpatient rounds and outpatient office visits.

Emergency room consultations.

Assists with surgical procedures.

In conjunction with the medical staff, develops and maintains all requirements related to regulatory agencies of the local, state, and federal governments.

Provides instruction to medical students and residents.

Attendance at and participation in Grand Rounds, departmental conferences, participation in community education programs and lecture series

Submission of abstracts /manuscripts for publication in peer reviewed journals.

Understands and adheres to RBHS's compliance standards as they appear in RBHS's Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy.

Keeps abreast of all federal, state and RBHS regulations, laws and policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified.
