Performance QA/Test Engineer

Precise is seeking an experienced Performance QA Test Engineer to join our team. As a QA Test Engineer, you'll work with developers to test our applications across an array of hardware and software. You will work on building a test plan with test cases based on user stories. Using manual and automated test processes, you will execute the test cases to see how the software performs. You will be an integral team member who assists the team to ensure high quality code is delivered to our client. Perform unit testing, functional testing, regression testing, etc. Involved in Performance Testing with excellent expertise in HP LoadRunner. You will confirm expected application behaviors in response to our software and then document the results and communicate defects to the development team so they can improve the applications.

Applicants must reside in the United States East Coast or Central time zones, ideally within the D.C./Maryland/Northern Virginia metropolitan area or within a 2-3 hour drive. The position is remote.

Successful candidate must be USC/GC/EAD and will be able to pass a Public Trust clearance.

Responsibilities:

  • Test and verify code, report and record defects, document test scripts, participate in design reviews, user acceptance testing, and deployment activities
  • Perform manual and automated testing of web applications and back-end data processes
  • Plan, organize, and implement day to day activities of testing
  • Coordinate with developers, architects, and functional analysts on testing and test results and product planning activities within an agile/scrum environment
  • Review and understand user stories and associated acceptance criteria
  • Execute all phases and types of testing to include user story testing, end-to-end testing, back-end database testing, regression testing of a release, performance and 508 compliance testing
  • Set up, maintain and run performance tests
  • Build modular automated performance test scripts using Load runner to identify load and scalability concerns for web-based applications
  • Analyze performance results and produce relevant reports and quality metrics with suggestions for improvements
  • Understand complex business and functional requirements and provide direction in designing the technical test cases that thoroughly test the tech stack from architectural standpoint and meet the application requirements
  • Work with the development teams in implementing and enforcing quality gates at each stage of the pipeline
  • Proactively identify and communicate risks and opportunities for improvement in testing process or other processes that cross all products and test frameworks.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
  • Good understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Defect Life Cycle
  • Experience working in an Agile development environment
  • Strong understanding of software testing principles, methodologies, and tools
  • At least 5 years of experience with performance testing, formal system testing, including unit testing, performing analysis of documented user requirements or designing of test plans in support of user requirements
  • At least 5 years of experience with creating detailed, comprehensive, and well-structured test plans and test cases
  • At least 3 years of experience working with Jira
  • Familiar with test automation of web applications
  • Should have at least 3 years of experience in Performance Testing with excellent expertise in HP LoadRunner
  • Familiar with Jenkins and experience supporting test automation with Jenkins
  • Performance Testing: Load Runner, JMETER
  • Excellent interpersonal and team-oriented skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Passion for design, attention to detail, and punctuality
  • Comfortable in a demanding environment and managing multiple priorities
  • Ability to obtain a public trust security clearance
