While reporting to the Plant Engineer, the Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for leading the maintenance process, coordinating facility maintenance, and overseeing maintenance technicians and equipment at Sonoco's Jackson, TN location. The Jackson Sonoco plant manufactures Rigid Paper Containers utilized in food packaging. The plant operates a 24x7 and only shuts down occasionally for Holidays.

What you will be doing:

  • Ensure the safety of all employees by leading a comprehensive Sonoco safety process to prevent injuries.
  • Provide department leadership to ensure the highest standards of plant condition and equipment performance are achieved and sustained.
  • Ensure maintenance department personnel possess the appropriate skills and are qualified and proficient. Identify and support technical training and development for department employees.
  • Perform as a key member of the plant leadership team - positive communicator and problem solver - driving for plant/process improvements, meeting objectives and setting the bar for performance standards.
  • Key contributor to the Maintenance Excellence (ME) process.
  • Works with Plant SPS (TPM) Steering Committee to achieve zero-losses by creating an environment where personnel are fully engaged, teamwork and cooperation is routinely practiced, and maintenance personnel embrace high standards for housekeeping, craftsmanship and equipment reliability.
  • Support the "Zero-Loss" initiative; improve overall equipment effectiveness by targeting the major losses, involve operators in the maintenance of their equipment, improve maintenance efficiency and effectiveness, training to improve skills and knowledge and participating in early equipment management and maintenance prevention design.
  • Ensure personnel are adequately documenting equipment problems and that timely and appropriate permanent countermeasures are taken.
  • Implement a maintenance strategy for equipment important to safety, quality and productivity that effectively utilizes proactive (preventive and predictive) maintenance and performance monitoring to detect equipment degradation and employ appropriate maintenance to prevent failure.This should be in line with the SPS strategy.
  • Hold maintenance personnel accountable for adherence to established standards and management expectations. Reinforces favorable personnel behaviors and addresses performance shortfalls in a timely and professional manner.
  • Frequently attend critical meetings on equipment performance to establish teamwork and accountability.
  • Proficient in Root Cause Analysis techniques (FMEA's, 5Why's, ATS, etc) and developing/implementing Countermeasures to drive Zero Breakdown culture.
  • Basic mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, instrumentation, lubrication and predictive maintenance understanding (or ability to learn quickly)

This position is located at our Jackson, TN plant.

We'd love to hear from you if:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Maintenance, Engineering, or a related field preferred or combination of education and experience.
  • 3+ years of manufacturing maintenance experience and/or 5+ years of supervisory manufacturing experience.
  • Experience in TPM or Reliability field preferred.
  • Experience with CMMS preferred.
  • Strong understanding of OSHA requirements related to equipment in-house. Ability to identify gaps and assist in implementing countermeasures to achieve Zero Safety Incidents.
  • Ability to lead and develop a highly collaborative and effective team.
  • Excellent organization, project management and communication skills
  • Proficient in Root Cause Analysis techniques (FMEA's, 5Why's, ATS, etc.) and developing/implementing Countermeasures to drive Zero Breakdown culture.
  • Process-oriented. Can identify gaps in any process and implement solutions.
  • Basic mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, instrumentation, lubrication and predictive maintenance understanding

Compensation:

The annual base salary range for this role is from $80,550 to $96,660, plus a quarterly target bonus of 12.5% of base salary.
