While reporting to the VP and GM of Sonoco RPC North America as the Health and Safety Director, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining health and safety programs across Sonoco's Consumer Products Division in North America. This role requires extensive travel to multiple sites to ensure compliance with safety regulations and to drive continuous improvements in safety performance.

What you'll be doing:

  • Health and Safety Strategy: Develop and implement a comprehensive health and safety strategy across all North American plants, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives and regulatory requirements.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all plants comply with OSHA standards, as well as any other relevant local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Incident Investigation: Lead incident investigations to identify root causes and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Training and Development: Design and deliver safety training programs to employees at all levels, fostering a culture of safety throughout the organization.
  • Continuous Improvement: Define and implement strategies to drive continuous improvements in safety performance, utilizing data and best practices to enhance safety protocols.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Effectively communicate with internal stakeholders at all levels, providing updates on safety performance and advocating for necessary resources and support.
  • Site Audits and Inspections: Conduct regular site audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure adherence to safety policies and procedures.

This position is located in North America (USA)

We'd love to hear from you if:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field preferred.
  • Certification: OSHA 30-hour certification or equivalent.
  • Proven experience in a health and safety leadership role within a manufacturing environment.
  • Extensive experience in incident investigation and root cause analysis.
  • Demonstrated experience in delivering effective training programs.
  • Successful track record in defining and implementing safety strategies across multiple sites.
  • Strong understanding of OSHA regulations and other relevant safety standards.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to travel up to 70% of the time to various plant locations.
  • Experience in the consumer products industry preferred.
  • Hands on experience working as an Engineer.
  • Advanced certifications in health and safety management.

This is a progression position and could be a level I, II or III. Compensation and progression level will be based on candidate's experience and education, and current business needs.

Compensation:

The annual base salary range for this role is from $134,250 to $161,100, plus annual target bonus of 12.5% of base salary.
