TITLE

Manager, Accounting - Cash

JOB SUMMARY

Performs highly professional tasks in the area of accounting and financial reporting. Requires an in-depth knowledge of principles and practices within a specific area of higher education accounting in accordance with GASB standards. Duties encompass reviewing and validating activity related to the University's cash accounts to ensure accuracy and integrity of the financial accounting data for reporting. Work is substantially complex and varied. Independent thought and judgement is required as well as personal initiative in completing required and assigned tasks. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Assistant Vice President, Controller through normal review of procedures and other internal controls. Performance evaluation is based upon completion of assignments and results obtained. The performance evaluation is conducted through the performance evaluation system and in accordance with the University Policies & Procedures.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

Reports to: Assistant Vice President, Controller

Supervises: No supervisory responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES - May include, but not limited to the following:



  • Reviews and reconciles the University's cash accounts on a daily/monthly basis to help identify fraud in a manageable timeframe.
  • Assists with ensuring that monthly GL account reconciliations are completed by Accounting team.
  • Responsible for calculating the tuition deposit and designated set asides submission to the State.
  • Assists in the preparation and reporting of information in the annual financial report.
  • Assists with cash GL account clean-up related to Oracle Cloud implementation.
  • Maintains accounting records utilizing the University accounting system.
  • Performs general ledger account maintenance including preparing and posting journal entries to the general ledger.
  • Audits accounts for accuracy and compliance with University, State and Federal entities.
  • Acts as team lead to Accounting Team to assist with reconciliation training.
  • Performs high volume, critical account reconciliations which directly impact University financial operations.
  • Provides accountability for outstanding items and is responsible for resolving outstanding issues in a timely manner.
  • Provides assistance to University employees in handling financial operating issues.
  • Assists with preparation of routine and specialized financial reports.
  • Assists with internal and external audits, organizing paperwork and making sure audits are finished on schedule.
  • Ensures compliance with internal controls.


ADDITIONAL DUTIES



  • Performs a variety of clerical tasks, such as filing, proofreading and preparing correspondence.
  • Collaborates in fulfilling internal requests for financial information.
  • Performs other duties as requested.


EDUCATION

Bachelor's degree in accounting or related area with an emphasis in accounting. Graduate courses preferred. Additional job-related experience may substitute for the required degree on a year-for-year basis.

EXPERIENCE

Five years experience in accounting. CPA or CGFM preferred. Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge is qualifying.

REQUIREMENT

Regular and reliable attendance at the University during regular scheduled days and work hours is an essential function of this position.

  • Ability to use a personal computer and other office equipment, including university related software and email.
