JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Pharmacy Inventory/Compliance specialist is accountable for the billing, receiving, and inventory activities of the pharmacy, insuring that all medications being ordered by the pharmacy buyer are properly received , stored and distributed throughout the institution for both the inpatient and outpatient use. The Pharmacy Inventory/compliance specialist ensures that all drugs are stored in compliance with manufacturer specifications until shipped to various distribution points throughout the institutions. The Pharmacy Inventory/Compliance Specialist also acts as back-up to the Pharmacy buyer. Solves problems and facilitates processes required to solve inventory problems and meet regulatory needs related to drug storage and medication handling outside the pharmacy, and works with the managers of the various units to assure that regulatory requirements are being met. Must act as back-up in Pharmacy's buyers absence being accountable for routine, controlled drugs and special non-stock purchases and responding to emergency situations which might involve manufacturer shortages and drug recalls. Coordinates interdepartmental working relationships necessary to achieve work unit goals.

EDUCATION:

High school graduate or equivalent. One year of college course work, with a science/chemistry background preferred. Licensed in the State of Vermont.

EXPERIENCE:

2 years of experience with inventory/stocking systems or related business background preferred OR 4 years of experience in pharmacy medication distribution.
