Works within interdisciplinary team: - Provides support/education to staff while maintaining a positive, safe working environment. - Collaboratively interact with other management teams as well as administration to provide patient focused care. - Supports an environment that fosters open communication among all health care team members. - Promotes professional growth and development of staff to achieve their optimal potential. - Provides direct and timely feedback to all members of the health care team Values communication and relationship building: - Responsible for coaching staff and providing support and expectations. - Provides service recovery to patient and family. - Collaborates with the Nurse Manager and Clinical Education Managers to provide education to staff in form of focus groups. - Provides visual aids for patient and staff education while also providing education and support to student nurses. - Gives and receives feedback including recognition and coaching for continuous improvement Utilizes informatics/business skills: - Utilizes hospital informatics by using smart-square scheduling, Kronos Workforce, MAK, Soarian, Healthstream, Corner Stone, Safe System, Pyxis, Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Office, as well as Sigmacare to maintain daily operations and maintain fiscal responsibility. Applies leadership and professional practice skills: - Obtains/maintains advanced degree & certification as indicated per job description and encourage staff to do the same. - Participate in leadership follow-up as well as hospital strategic planning. - Lead the way with staff by modeling the way with hospital wide initiatives. - Provides yearly performance evaluations for each staff member assigned and conducts evaluations for new staff prior to completion of probationary period with input from appropriate nursing staff to include the standards of practice are being followed. - Councils employees and utilizes the disciplinary process as appropriate. - Supports and demonstrates organizational cultural beliefs and key results. Applies quality and patient-focused care: - Promotes hospital wide initiatives by providing & monitoring that best practice is being utilized through service excellence and risk management. - Responsible for maintaining competency for their specific unit with the expectation to work as team leader/staff nurse when applicable. - Participates in daily interdisciplinary round or hand off of care and staff huddles. 2. MSN in Healthcare preferred. |
