The Small Practice Clinical Lead will provide leadership, support and assistance in daily management of Rehabilitation Therapy practices at the O'Brien Community Center (OCC) and San Remo Drive (SRD). This may include operational tasks, quality improvement, program development, professional development and research, as determined by the needs of each site, discipline and the department.

In order to apply for this role, a candidate would need to be full-time. Please note: The Clinical Lead position is 75% patient care and 25% administrative.

Administratively, the Small Practice Clinical Lead will work collaboratively with the practice supervisor and manager at each of these locations. They will also work collaboratively with staff of any associated physician practices, to provide a seamless transition of care for patients as well as to ensure close communication across providers.

Clinically, they will provide physical therapy to patients in varying states of health and illness. Physical therapists diagnose and manage movement dysfunction, enhance physical and functional abilities, and promote optimal quality of life as it relates to movement and health. Physical therapists prevent the onset, symptoms, and progression of impairments, functional limitations, and disabilities that may result from diseases, disorders, conditions, or injuries. Physical therapists function as an essential member of therapy and multidisciplinary teams providing direct care to patients. They teach and prepare patients/families and caregivers for continued care after discharge. The physical therapist may be involved in consultative services withinthe University of Vermont Medical Centerand in the community. JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Delivers high quality patient care on a consistent basis per site and discipline standards.
  • Provides clinical mentorship, functional guidance and advanced patient consultation, facilitating staff progress toward yearly goals.
  • Completes internal peer review audits of other clinicians per therapy service guidelines, providing positive feedback and suggestions for improvement.
  • Demonstrates ability to communicate effectively at all levels, in a manner that promotes resolution (i.e. with patients/families, staff, supervisors, senior leadership, and other health care and community members).
  • Collaborates with therapy site leader to proactively identify opportunities for improvement and potential growth by identifying community needs and enhancing/developing marketing programs.
  • Models the importance of professional development through avenues such as leading clinical discussions, journal reviews, and coordinating clinical inservices.
  • May participate in the interview and orientation process for new staff and students.
  • Provides day to day site management in the absence of the site leader.
  • Maintains site logs and completes monthly environment of care audits to maintain regulatory readiness.
  • Monitors clinical supplies and equipment needs, maintaining an adequate supply for clinical staff at each site.
  • Assists with the financial management of the site within budget.
  • Demonstrates initiative, flexibility, tolerance for rapid and unanticipated change and strong time management, organizational and communication skills.
  • Demonstrates dedication to personal and professional growth.
  • Complies with all pertinent rules and regulations within the relevant State Practice Act, Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice.
  • Protects patients' rights by maintaining confidentiality of personal and financial information.
  • EDUCATION:
  • Bachelors of Science (or higher) degree from an Accredited Physical Therapy program.
  • Licensed or eligible to be licensed to practice physical therapy in the State of Vermont.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Three years of relevant clinical experience as a staff therapist and demonstration of leadership skills. Knowledge or experience working with the total joint population, general orthopedics and/or aquatic therapy are preferred.
