Additional Job Description: West Virginia University School of Medicine, Department of Pediatrics is seeking a Neonatologist, qualified for appointment at the Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor rank, to join our established group in our level IV NICU practice. The successful candidate will practice at our Children's Hospital in Morgantown, WV. Duties: The successful candidate will provide excellent patient care, work collaboratively with other pediatric subspecialists, actively teach medical students, residents, and fellows, supervise neonatal advanced practice providers, and improve the care of neonatal patients through quality improvement or research. Qualifications: Candidates must have an MD or DO degree or foreign equivalent and be eligible to obtain a state medical license. Candidates must have completed an accredited pediatrics residency program and be fellowship trained and board certified/eligible in neonatology. All qualifications must be met by the time of appointment. Practice Site: Our new 150 bed Children's Hospital, opened in 2022, offers 52 NICU beds, including twin suites and a nesting room for parents preparing for discharge. The NICU adjoins our Birthing Center, a 30-bed obstetrical unit with a dedicated infant resuscitation room. Prenatal consultations are performed in the on-site maternal-fetal medicine clinic. The Children's Hospital includes a full suite of pediatric operating rooms, cardiac catheterization lab/interventional radiology, and GI-endoscopy with dedicated pediatric anesthesia staff. There are also 34 pediatric beds, 26 PICU beds, and dedicated Cancer Center and Heart Center. WVU Medicine Children's is a Level 2 Pediatric Trauma Center, with plans to become Level 1, as it is for adults currently. J. W. Ruby Memorial Hospital is the only hospital in West Virginia with a pediatric cardiac surgery program, the only epilepsy monitoring unit in the state equipped to serve children, and the only hospital in the state to receive Magnet status for nursing excellence. Successful candidate may also be assigned to provide services at other worksites providing neonatal care, including but not necessarily limited to, West Virginia University Hospitals, Inc., West Virginia University Medical Corporation doing business as "University Health Associates," at Mon Health Medical Center and Wheeling Hospital located in West Virginia and, as such, travel may be expected to fulfill said duties at these other worksites.
