West Virginia University School of Medicine and the Department of Anesthesiology seek an accomplished academic anesthesiologist to serve as Division Chief of Pediatric Anesthesia. This position is open at the rank of associate professor or professor (rank commensurate based upon experience). The division chief must have a clear vision for advancing the subspecialty, experience in effectively collaborating with anesthesiologists and other colleagues, and demonstrated leadership skills in academic medicine. The division chief will serve as a member of the Department's Executive Leadership group and will report directly to the Department Chair. The successful candidate will be expected to practice in Morgantown, WV.

Duties: The division chief will be responsible for actualizing our tripartite mission (clinical care, education, and research) within the Division of Pediatric Anesthesia. The successful candidate will practice in Pediatric Anesthesia and ensure high-quality patient care with efficient and innovative utilization of clinical and material resources. In addition to providing excellent patient care, the successful candidate will also be actively involved in teaching medical students, residents, and fellows. The Division Chief will lead a group of faculty emphasizing high quality, patient-centered perioperative care with a focus on evidence-based medicine with a commitment to patient safety and satisfaction. The successful candidate will lead innovative scholarship in pediatric anesthesia.

Qualifications: Candidate must have an MD or DO degree or foreign equivalent and be eligible for state medical license. Successful candidate must have completed an anesthesiology residency program, as well as a pediatric anesthesiology fellowship program. Successful candidates must be board certified in anesthesiology, ideally with additional certification in pediatric anesthesiology. Significant professional experience in clinical practice and leadership is required. All qualifications must be met by the time of appointment.

Our newly opened 150 bed Children's Hospital has a full suite of pediatric operating rooms, cardiac catheterization lab/interventional radiology, and GI-endoscopy with dedicated pediatric anesthesia staff.
