Job Summary

To be responsible for proper operations of the extrusion process; troubleshoot, identify, and

resolve processing issues while maintaining high production rates and decreasing scrap rates.

Works as a liaison on all process and training issues between engineers and production.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot problems in the blending area, on the extrusion lines
  • Assist extruder operators in solving processing issues, recommends parameter changes when extruded profiles are out of specification.
  • Acts as a liaison between production and Process Engineers.
  • Performs profile and tooling changeovers
  • Optimize production rates and assist with start-ups, shutdowns and training of operators
  • Maintains various training manuals, records and performs other duties as required.
  • Understands the effects of changes in material, temperature and die alterations
  • Knows how to read run sheets and other process documentation
  • Perform other tasks as requested by management

Qualifications

  • 3 years of supervisor or lead operator, related work experience and / or proven performance.
  • Demonstrate ability in basic mathematical computations and to accurately use a tape measure.
  • Demonstrate ability to use and operate hand tools and to perform routine maintenance on molders and brush machines.
  • Ability to stand on concrete surfaces for up to three hours without a break and twelve hours with breaks, lift weights up to 100 pounds at shoulder level.
  • Demonstrate ability to give, comprehend, follow written and oral instructions, and effectively communicate with fellow employees.
  • Ability to work shifts and hours mandated by management and to pass a drug test.
