Pediatric Pulmonologist
West Virginia University School of Medicine and the Department of Pediatrics seeks a Pediatric Pulmonologist qualified for appointment at the Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor rank to join the Division of Pediatric Pulmonology and Sleep Medicine. The successful candidate will be expected to practice in Morgantown, WV. Duties: The successful candidate will practice pediatric pulmonology in the inpatient and outpatient settings, including primary pulmonary and multidisciplinary clinics. He or she will also extend outreach services via telemedicine to clinics around the state. Procedures, including the provision of bronchoscopies and the interpretation of pulmonary function testing are expected. In addition to providing excellent patient care, the successful candidate will also be actively involved in teaching medical students and residents. Qualifications: Candidate must have an MD or DO degree or foreign equivalent and be eligible for state medical license. He or she must have completed a pediatrics residency program, as well as a pediatric pulmonology fellowship program. Successful candidates must be board certified in Pediatric Pulmonology, with additional board certification in Sleep Medicine preferred. All qualifications must be met by the time of appointment. The four-clinician division is currently staffed with support from a research coordinator, a nurse coordinator, a dietician, a pharmacist, committed pediatric respiratory therapists and social work support. WVU's Mountain State Cystic Fibrosis Center is a CF-Therapeutics Development Network Center, managed within the division. The center's respiratory data are among the best in the country. We also have an AASM accredited sleep lab and pediatric sleep disorders clinic. WVU Medicine Children's Hospital is the premier site within the state for primary through tertiary care of children. The department has close working relationships with colleagues in the pediatric surgical subspecialties and pediatric radiology. The department is committed to providing excellent clinical care to the children of West Virginia, a collegial academic environment that fosters professional growth and high quality teaching to our students and house staff. With an anticipated opening in the Fall of 2022, our new 150 bed Children's Hospital will have a full suite of pediatric operating rooms, cardiac catheterization lab/interventional radiology, and GI-endoscopy with dedicated pediatric anesthesia staff. The hospital will include 34 pediatric beds, 54 NICU beds, 26 PICU beds, Heart Center, and a dedicated Cancer Center. WVU Medicine Children's is a Level 2 Pediatric Trauma Center, with plans to become Level 1, as it is for adults currently. There will also be a Birthing Center including a 30-bed obstetrical unit and maternal-fetal medicine clinic. J. W. Ruby Memorial Hospital is the only hospital in West Virginia with a pediatric cardiac surgery program, the only epilepsy monitoring unit in the state equipped to serve children, and the only hospital in the state to receive Magnet status for nursing excellence.
