This part time (20 hours per week) role provides support of high complexity testing as well as daily routine testing of incoming raw milk samples, in-process, finished product, and stability samples.

How you will contribute

  • Setting up, performing high complexity testing and reporting test results.
  • Preparing reagents /controls and maintaining inventory of reagents and supplies.
  • Performing instrument maintenance and maintaining daily temperature charts.
  • Performing proficiency testing, competency assessment, parallel testing of instruments and reagents and maintaining records.
  • Performing data entry into LIMS and other databases.
  • Providing oversight of non-licensed personnel during execution of high complexity testing.
  • Demonstrating a full understanding of routine and clinical laboratory procedures.
  • Following established procedures and guidelines to perform high complexity and routine laboratory procedures to test the quality of incoming samples.
  • Working on moderately complex projects with team members as needed.
  • Applying knowledge of policies, practices, and underlying concepts to assignments.
  • Effectively completing assigned projects.
  • Serving as a technical resource.
  • Utilizing significant knowledge of laboratory testing in preparing conclusions and recommendations for investigations: LIR/NC/CAPA.
  • Completing laboratory testing on all samples in an accurate, efficient and timely manner.
  • Maintaining a safe and clean laboratory.
  • Disposing of hazardous/biohazardous wastes according to Prolacta established procedures.
  • May provide leadership and/or guidance to junior colleagues on a semi-regular basis



What you bring to the role



  • Must have an active CA CLS or MLS license.
  • Bachelor's degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Microbiology, Chemical Engineering, or other related discipline
  • General lab experience, including experience with general lab equipment and good laboratory practices are a must.
  • Able to multi-task and work at a fast-paced level.
  • Minimum of 4 years hands-on experience in clinical and/or medical laboratory experience, qPCR testing experience is preferred.

What else do you need to know

Location: This position is required to support testing at both the City of Industry and Duarte locations

Schedule: Wednesday - Saturday - 5 hours per pay work schedule

Travel: Up to 5% car travel between locations may be required

FLSA: Non-Exempt
