Overview

Position Overview:

Responsible for implementing equipment maintenance practices on the job site, work with vendors to obtain parts and supplies and implements proper maintenance forecasting. The Field Equipment Manager II will supervise the field mechanic on site.

Location & Travel Details: You'll get the opportunity to travel across the US, helping our team build renewable projects. This is a traveling position, up to 100% of the time. You have the potential to be placed on a project site located in any state throughout the US. You'll spend 8-12 months on average per project. We offer designated daily per diem in addition to base pay to support and help you cover living expenses. This position is eligible for routine travel home (rotation) from the jobsite. A company vehicle and fuel card will be provided.

MasTec Renewables group is part of the MasTec Clean Energy & Infrastructure business segment. MasTec's Clean Energy and Infrastructure Group (CE&I) is a $2 billion annual revenue business unit that provides construction services for industrial facilities; building products manufacturers, power generation facilities, manufacturing plants; solar, wind, and thermal energy plants; buildings, and infrastructure.



Responsibilities

    Supervise the field mechanics on assigned site
  • Create an Equipment Matrix to include start date and call-off dates, milestones, availability, phase code and full description of equipment
  • Establish a local vendor for oil changes, tire repairs along with a vendor for Parts/Consumables related to equipment: grease, filters, washer fluid, air filters, small brooms, etc.
  • Assist with equipment budget responsibilities in regards to repairs, maintenance, renting of assets
  • Attend Plan of the Day (POD) meetings daily to give project team updates on repairs and maintenance
  • Order DOT numbers, truck decals, fire extinguishers, first Aid kits, and spill kits
  • Ensure all DOT drivers have up to date medical card along with fuel and driver log
  • Ensure DOT owned/rental trucks are equipped with correct DOT #'s on doors and cab cards in place
  • Ensure Meter-o is submitted weekly for utilization
  • Assigned approved drivers to all pick-up trucks with assigned site number and establish if the truck is leaving the site at the end of the day and ensure each truck has valid insurance card and documents needed
  • Conduct a truck/buggy rodeo at least once a month to ensure assigned driver, maintenance, cleanliness and ensure all trucks/buggies are equipped with the required items
  • Create maintenance request for maintenance, repairs, and damage in TENNA along with verifying completion
  • Ensure a fluid analysis is completed on all preventative maintenance and provide support to field mechanic
  • Maintain a Project Maintenance schedule on owned/rented equipment and coordinate with site team to get work completed (i.e. repairs, maintenance, checks, etc.)
  • Order daily inspection books and assign to each piece of equipment
  • Ensure inspections are turned in on a daily basis
  • Electronically submit thorough inbound/outbound inspections
  • Schedule trucking for equipment leaving or transferring to and from site; ensure bill of ladings (BOLs) are signed by carrier
  • Verify equipment is in working order prior to being transported to another job
  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications

Field Equipment Manager I:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Three years of prior heavy equipment/construction experience

Field Equipment Manager II:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Five years of prior heavy equipment/construction experience

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Take reasonable care of your own and others' health and safety and of those who may be affected by the day-to-day delivery of this role by taking personal responsibility for working toward the Company's Zero Injury principles
  • Ability to read schematics
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • High level of efficiency
  • Ability to work well independently or with others
  • Ability to use digital systems such as email, phone/tablet for inspections and photos, time tracking application, digital OEM manuals
  • Willingness to learn
  • Ability to work efficiently, independently and follow through on assignments
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Internet
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task

Working Environment:

  • When visiting jobsites the work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions
  • This work environment may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors and/or loud noises
  • Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles
  • Frequently exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals
  • Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; outside weather conditions; and risk of electrical shock
  • Noise level in the work environment is usually loud
