What you'll do As the Production Manager based at our recently overhauled manufacturing campus in Kansas City, MO, you will oversee all production activities related to the manufacturing of Utilimaster (A Shyft Brand) product lines including, but not limited to, emergency response bodies and chassis, motorhome chassis, and other specialty vehicles. Your scope of responsibility will include roughly 125 production employees and your work will be critical in ensuring that all manufacturing functions are performed in a promptly and cost-effectively with established procedures. Relocation assistance is available for non-local candidates. You will also: * Plan, organize, and direct production activities to meet or exceed KPIs * Forecast staffing needs to meet the production demands of the business * Design, develop, implement, and maintain manufacturing processes, procedures, and programs aimed to increase productivity and yield, and improve quality and safety procedures * Examine workflows and develop innovative methods for your production team * Establish production and quality control standards * Develop and implement safety programs to reduce accidents and injuries * Implement and maintain OSHA programs and standards * Providing coaching to direct reports and teammates with a focus on career development * Address organizational needs, equipment utilization, and maintenance in partnership with management * Ensure that operational supplies are always on hand and available * Develop, implement, and monitor department budget and manage expenses within budget constraints * Cultivate a motivating environment based on trust, teamwork, accountability, self-confidence, and ownership * Identify, document, and implement opportunities for continuous improvement * Collaborate with engineering, materials, purchasing, and sales teams to resolve issues * Ensure production employees and managers complete the required safety training and consistently work in a safe manner Learn more about The Shyft Group and Utilimaster by exploring the Learn More section below.
