Job Description

Is the second working level of the design series. Incumbents perform moderate to complex design tasks with limited supervision and lead routine design projects. This role has no direct reports.

WHAT YOU GET TO DO

  • Safety

    • Acts as a safety leader to others by ensuring that all design work is completed in accordance with our safety policies.
    • Designs/redesigns or adapts devices, machines and components meeting current safety standards independently or with minimal supervision.

    • Determines customer's needs by identifying problems and safety concerns. Develop and evaluate solutions thereby defining project scope.
    • Provides information and/or writes procedures to create or update machine manuals.
  • Collaboration
    • Provides effective written and oral communications to all stake holders with minimal guidance.
    • Effectively performs as a team contributor and leads teams as needed.
  • Accountability
    • Works from written or verbal directions, rough sketches or marked-up prints.
    • Enters drawing and project information into an engineering database system and constructs Bills of Materials for detailed machine assemblies and components.
  • Results and Outperformance
    • Specifies and releases requests to vendors to purchase materials and machinery components with minimal direction of a designer or engineer.
    • Assists machine check-out through documentation of changes, product testing, safety and check-out list completion.
    • Provides technical assistance and troubleshooting skills to other departments.

    • Utilizes consistent and organized methodologies to manage designs and fabrication costs. Able to understands where differences lie in final design build costs.
  • Role Emphasis
    • Mechanical
      • Knowledge of machine design and drafting methods, practices and standards.
      • Knowledge of machine shop practices, finishes and geometric tolerancing.
      • Knowledge of 2D/3D Computer Aided Design/Drafting (CAD) systems.
      • Assists with testing and validation mechanical machine designs and systems.
    • Electrical
      • Knowledge of electrical design and drafting methods, practices and standards.
      • Knowledge of 2D/3D Computer Aided Design/Drafting (CAD) systems.
      • Assists with testing and validation electrical machine designs and systems.

        WHAT WE WANT FROM YOU

  • Associates Degree in Mechanical and or Electrical Design or BS in engineering
  • 3 - 10 years experience
  • Some travel maybe required
