Job DescriptionMaintenance Mechanic--IBM Monday-Friday--8 hours Itasca, IL Primary Purpose To be considered a qualified candidate for the Maintenance Mechanic II position, an individual must have mastered the specific responsibilities, essential functions and all of the training required of a Maintenance Mechanic I. Qualified candidates Perform general maintenance and preventative / predictive maintenance on a variety of blow mold, injection, auxiliary and plant support equipment. Individual is required to have proven knowledge and skill of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic theory and procedure to troubleshoot, perform preventative maintenance and complete necessary repairs. The overall goal is to assist in minimizing downtime due to breakdown repairs and PM's and to optimize the quality of products. Specific Responsibilities / Essential FunctionsDemonstrated ability to apply knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic theory and procedure in the maintenance and repair of blow mold, injection, auxiliary and support equipment. Demonstrated ability to apply knowledge of machines and processes for blow mold, injection, drying systems, mechanical systems and construction to analyse, set-up and maintain equipment for safe and continuous operation. Ability to read electrical schematics and identify symbols and control circuits with a reasonable degree of competency including ability to understand and troubleshoot PLC program logic. Ability to competently and with a reasonable degree of accuracy, troubleshoot electrical circuits. Must be capable of working on the installation of PLC's, change motors, install relays and starters, and install control circuits. Experience with the design and / or assembly of electrical panels and / or circuits. Ability to rewire and ensure proper locations of power and thermocouple wires to base mounted connections with reasonable speed and accuracy without causing any damage to any components of the manifold assembly. Ability to read hydraulic schematics and identify symbols and control circuits with a reasonable degree of competency. Ability to competently and with a reasonable degree of accuracy, troubleshoot a hydraulic circuit. Must be capable of working on equipment to repair, change or upgrade the status of equipment. Must be capable of performing maintenance on all types of equipment represented in the plant with a reasonable degree of skill and competency. Must have a reasonable degree of skill with refrigeration, drying systems, conveying, fluid pumps, blowing and vacuum pumps, pneumatic circuits and welding / fabrication. Ability to refurbish all manifolds in the plant with a reasonable degree of competency, speed and accuracy without causing damage to components of the manifold assembly. Follows all established safety rules and guidelines as outlined in the Amcor "No Injuries Safety Contract" and as trained. Understands and communicates all hazards and safety issues to co-workers and Supervisors. Properly uses all required personal protective equipment. Performs other related duties as directed by the Maintenance Manager to insure the smooth and orderly operation of finished product movement in the area assigned. AuthorizationThose employees with authorized training, have the ability to shut down / stop equipment if continue operation is a threat to any employee's health and safety Recommend Staff stop production for unacceptable quality Recommend Staff quarantine out-of-specification products, materials or supplies Contact any member of Management without fear of reprisal concerning questions, suggestions, concerns or complaints regarding quality, working conditions or job environment Job Specifications and RequirementsEducation and Experience: High school diploma or graduate of vocational-tech program preferred. Completed all requirements of Maintenance Mechanic I Physical Requirements: This is a heavy physical demand job Lift / push / pull up to 1000 pounds 50 feet using a hydraulic hand jack (this is the equivalent of a static push / pull of approximately 70 pounds). Maximum frequent lifting weight of 35 pounds from ground to 6 feet overhead. Occasional frequency of lifting up to 45 pounds from ground to 6 feet overhead. Maximum frequent carrying weight of 60 pounds for 10 feet. Employees are required to stand / walk for up to 11 hours per shift on a concrete floor. Employees must be able to work 12-hour shifts day or nights, including weekends and holidays. Employees are required to bend; turn / twist; kneel; squat; crawl; climb; reach out and up; turn wrist; grasp; pinch; and have finger manipulations. Other Requirements: Supplies own tools sufficient to perform maintenance tasks in the disciplines of the scope needed to perform assigned duties. Personal tools must meet the plant's minimum tool list requirement. Must supply own toolbox to adequately secure tools. Ability to recognize and understand numbers and values related to job functions. Ability to visually and mentally make priority decisions / judgement calls based on the situation at hand. Proficient hand / eye coordination to operate equipment and assemble packaging for shipment. Ability to communicate clearly.
