Job Summary:




We are currently seeking a supportive and driven individual to lead our Shipping team. This role will be responsible for setting and communicating daily, weekly, and monthly goals to team members, organizing workflow by assigning responsibilities, preparing schedules in a manufacturing facility. This leader will require the ability to empower, coach, and mentor team members for both growth and development. The Shipping Supervisor works with a team to ensure health and safety codes are followed, timely production output and identify issues in efficiency and make suggestions while adhering to safety and quality standards. The ideal candidate is organized, analytical, and a problem solver and can meet deadlines and prioritize multiple projects.



Responsibilities:




Shipping:





  • Analyze and manipulate data to support department goals




  • Review and code freight bills




  • Meet cross-training requirements within the department and update the required spreadsheet accordingly




  • Prepare and ship LMI/China orders




  • File missing shipments with appropriate carrier




  • Order and maintain supplies




  • Coordinate shipments to and from other company locations




  • Make daily updates to the management and productivity boards




  • Meet cross-training requirements within the department and update the required spreadsheet accordingly







Leadership:





  • Ensure that shipping associates are trained and well-versed in departmental procedures and quality standards




  • Ensure shipping pace is maintained to meet customer demand and company goals




  • Regulate employee time off requests to ensure departmental commitments are met despite absences




  • Improve departmental results by establishing contingency plans and promoting team collaboration




  • Monitor employee performance: make recommendations to enhance improvement, assign projects to further elevate talent and skill level, and conduct bi-annual performance reviews







Communication:





  • Report, track, communicate, and resolve any shortages regarding parts or any equipment related issues




  • Adress emails from internal/external customers




  • Update daily management board




  • Respond quickly to changes in business management or scope of responsibilities







Training and Development:





  • Ensure team members attend monthly EHS trainings




  • Must obtain and maintain IR certification/license for harness and equipment (forklift, and scissor lift).




  • Ensure all policies and procedures (i.e. report on time and ready to work - Start/Lunch/Breaks)







Quality Control:





  • Help ensure employees have accurate information to execute processes




  • Maintain required data and records for the work area (efficiency, turn backs, etc.)




  • Perform quality checks by established quality procedures and ISO requirements







Safety Compliance:





  • Ensure all safety guidelines, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)




  • Report any safety hazards or incidents to supervisors promptly




  • Lift a maximum of 35 lbs for an individual and 70 lbs for a team lift







Cleanliness and Organization:





  • Maintain a clean and organized work area




  • Follow 5S principles (Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain)







Qualifications:






  • High School Diploma or GED, required




  • Technical/Business School Certificate or Diploma, Skilled Trades Apprenticeship, preferred




  • 2-5 years of shipping experience with 3 years supervisory experience




  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are a must




  • Understanding of KPI (key performance indicators)




  • Understanding of Lean principles and responsibilities




  • Proficient computer knowledge (i.e. log on credentials (SSO), JD Edwards, and Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel)




  • Ability to lift up to 35lbs







Travel & Work Arrangements/Requirements:






  • Fully site based
