Join our expanding team! Ingersoll Rand's Precision Technologies division is looking for an Application Engineer to join the Ingersoll Rand Pumps team in Alsip (Chicago), Illinois. Commutable distances from areas such as Indiana etc. will also be considered for this onsite role. Job Overview
:
The Application Engineer is a critical role operating as an integral part of the Commercial Team to support the selling efforts of the direct and indirect sales force. Reporting to the Global Director of Sales and Product Management, the position is primarily responsible for sizing, selecting, and configuring positive displacement pump products in our MP Pumps, Oberdorfer Pumps and Ingersoll Rand Pumps brand families, which encompass internal and external gear and centrifugal pump technologies. This role will also collaborate with Sales & Engineering to support the successful execution of high specification OEM, EPC, and other major project opportunities.
A successful candidate will strive to "Make Life Better" for our customers to significantly grow our business as well as the discipline and brilliance to effectively service our distributors, OEMs and internal Sales team. Responsibilities


  • Product Selection
    : Selection and sizing of the appropriate solution(s) based on application/specification parameters such as flow rate, pressure, and fluid characteristics
  • Solution Development
    : Oversee pump system component selection and layout to outline full package solutions including motors, couplings, baseplates etc.


  • Documentation
    : Create pump bid packages based on specification review, including 3D modeling and drafting when necessary


  • Standards Knowledge
    : Interpretation and application of relevant industry standards, including but not limited to API, ASME, ANSI, UL, CE, ATEX, ABS etc.


  • Customer Focus
    : Technical support of cross-functional internal (sales, customer service and product management) and external distributor and OEM (original equipment manufacturer) customers


  • Strategic Support
    : Participate in annual product roadmap and strategy planning and execution; technical support of new product development to grow market share


  • Continuous Improvement
    : Monitor and adapt to competitive product trends, participate in market share and margin expansion efforts including Kaizens and Innovate to Value (i2V) workshops




Requirements
:


  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering, or related technical field.
  • 1+ years relevant work experience preferred.

  • While pump experience is preferred, it is not an absolute necessity. Experience in industrial equipment sizing and selection and familiarity with manufacturing environments will be considered.

  • Beginner/Intermediate SolidWorks skill and ability

  • Familiarity with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards preferred

  • Intermediate computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office tools

  • Strong communication skills - ability to interpret customer requirements and relay applicable solutions to internal and external parties in easily understood terms

Travel & Work Arrangements


  • This is an onsite position, located in our Alsip, IL manufacturing facility.
  • Occasional travel (10%-20%) may be required.



Pay Range
The base salary range for this role is $90,000-110,000. The pay range considers a wide range of factors that include a candidate's skills; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and geographic location. What We Offer
