Overview

SCCI is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to join our team! The successful candidate will be a key member of a high-performing DoD Weapons team. In this position you will support the Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD) Gun Computer System (GCS) Mark (MK) 160 program (prior US Navy Shipboard experience is a plus). This position is located in Dahlgren, VA.

Responsibilities:



  • Provide GCS MK 160 product development and fielding support to the Area Product Owners (APOs), software development team, configuration management team, test team and other internal functional groups as well as external groups
  • Lead and conduct (as required) Integration Testing at NSWCDD, Combat System Test Sites and first ships in USN Baseline 9/10, LCS/FFG, USCG, and FMS platforms
  • Identify data to be collected from test activities to evaluate the capabilities and performance of newly developed GCS MK 160 products
  • Perform analysis of data collected during test activities to identify issues and/or areas for improvement
  • Interact with Naval Units and other services to evaluate and resolve GCS MK 160 problems
  • Write, review and update test plans, test/data analysis reports, software requirements, work specifications, Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs), and other technical documents
  • Participate in technical meetings, such as design reviews, technical interchange meetings, etc.
  • Mentor and train junior employees on GWS MK34/48 and GCS MK 160 system engineering activities
  • Perform other system engineering tasks as assigned


Essential Skills and Experience:



  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and have an Active Secret Security Clearance
  • A Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in an engineering, scientific, or technical discipline; Equivalent experience can be considered in lieu of degree
  • Ten (10) years general experience in DOD system engineering processes in a rapid development environment with demonstrated expertise.


Specialized Experience:



  • Five (5) years of specialized experience in at least one major weapons system development program supporting any of the following areas:

    • System design parameters
    • Concepts operation
    • Risk assessment
    • Performance analyses
    • Test and evaluation
    • Post-delivery support


  • Must have experience supporting:

    • Future or emerging weapons systems and support and sustainment of currently fielded legacy weapon systems
    • Technical aspects of systems engineering as well as a broad understanding of its role in supporting DOD acquisition programs
    • Systems engineering and work management tools
