PKAF Automotive OEM Laboratory Technician

As aPKAF Automotive OEM Laboratory Technician you will provide a wide variety of routine, non-routine, complex to very complex technical services in support of the Auto OEM customers.. You will work independently or in concert with team chemists or other PPG personnel to plan, construct, test and document assignments involving the use of learned skills in support of team projects. You will prepare samples for evaluation and formulation support on projects for customer issues, production troubleshooting, new formula development, validation or improvement.

The primary responsibilities will include making formulations and mixing wet paint, reducing/spraying paint samples, and adjusting the samples for color or other properties to an identified target. Limited supervision is required.

You will work onsite at our Cleveland, OH facility in the decorative automotive parts and accessories market segment for Tier accounts and will report to the S&T Customer Support Manager for the team.

Responsibilities:

• Develop comprehension and follow all company policies, 5S and EHS guidelines.
• Support projects through application and completion of several tests that vary in complexity.
• Use necessary terminology, operating procedures, and equipment on DCS projects.
• Works with cross functional teams and support new color and product development, and technology cost and improvement projects.
• Demonstrate commitment to goals through words and actions. Demonstrates adaptability.
• Follow experimental procedures, generate reliable data and consistently demonstrates the ability to contribute to the design of experiments.
• Maintain an accurate and neat notebook with proper documentation of results and observations.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• 2+ years working in an industrial facility/setting preferred.
• Previous lab experience preferred.
• Familiarity with Topcoat Application and Automotive OEM Testing preferred.
