Job Description TheClinical Mentor is an RN with expertise in Med/Surg who is also a unit specific educator that coordinates mentors and leads the new nurses as they progress from novice to competent. The Mentor supports the development of knowledge and skills in novice and the beginner nurse by providing daily mentorship and role-modeling, which empowers the novice to achieve professional growth and excellence through the delivery of evidenced based nursing practice. This occurs through the role modeling of professional bedside nursing and by the application of the educational process to the orientation of an RN who is new to a specialty area. This includes the application of assessment, development, planning, implementation and evaluation of competency in the critical care internship. This position reports directly to the Department Director in collaboration with the Corporate Clinical Nurse Educator (CCNE). Travel may be required to facilitate collaboration with entities across Truman Medical Centers.
