Senior Research Chemist

As aSenior Research Chemist, you will be responsible for developing aerospace sealants and adhesives products. You will also assist with the scale-up, qualification, and commercialization of these materials. This position reports to the Product Development Manager and is located in our Aerospace Materials Science & Technology Center, Burbank, CA.

Key Responsibilities:

• Work with the marketing team and customers to identify gaps in our current product offerings and / or future product needs. Translate the gaps and needs into product design criteria and specifications
• Develop technical domain expertise - develop detailed knowledge regarding competitive products, intellectual property, literature - and on that basis develop technical plans for product development
• Drive product development based on sound scientific and statistical methodologies .
• Manage project timelines and deliverables, including project management, capturing updates, meeting internally and externally, and reporting.
• Supervise and mentor junior team members to execute on design, including formulation and testing.

Qualifications:

• A Ph.D in Materials Science and Engineering or Materials Chemistry or Polymer Science and Engineering is required
• 3+ years of industrial or academic experience in the field of sealants, adhesives, composites, epoxy, or coatings is required
• The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of structure-function relationships as relevant to polymer composite materials, as well as the ability to engineer and design these materials to meet customer requirements
• Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident.
  
  Salary Range $120,000-$140,000 plus annual bonus
