We also offer psychiatric inpatient care, and we deliver therapeutic services through our community outreach clinics. We are a leader in the Trauma-Informed Care Movement, and provide training, coaching and consulting to outside organizations.

Job Description

Our RESCA (Residential Clustered Apartments) program provides intensive treatment to clients of University Health Behavioral Health who are struggling with symptoms of a severe and persistent mental illness (e.g. Schizophrenia, Bipolar, etc.) and often, substance use. We have three 14-15 unit apartment buildings in which our clients will live in their own apartment and we provide staff support seven days a week in an on-site office. Our goal is to help our clients improve their mental health such that they are able to move into their own apartment independently.

This Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) would lead the clinical treatment of our clients at our St. John location. Our St. John RESCA is located on St. John Ave. in the Northeast neighborhood of Kansas City, MO. The QMHP will be trained in Recovery Orientated Cognitive Therapy (CT-R) which is the primary Evidenced Based Practice we use to provide our services. This position works Monday through Friday during the day.

The QMHP would provide treatment in both individual and group settings. Duties will include crisis intervention, risk assessment, diagnostic impression utilizing the DSM, short-term stabilizationservices as well as individual and group therapy. Treatment is provided based upon sound theoretical principles,with knowledge of the special issues and needs of the population served. The QMHP will provide treatmentstrategies to meet the multifaceted needs of a diverse population, with attention to the policies and proceduresof the organization, and is expected to interface with both internal and external treatment providers (e.g. guardians, psychiatrist, case workers, payees, etc).

Minimum Requirements
1. Master's degree from an accredited program in counseling, psychology, social work, family therapy or closelyrelated field,
2. Staff with a master's degree in social work are required to have a MO LMSW (if LMSW isn't obtained yet, still apply)
3. Knowledge of psychiatric terminology and the process of psychiatric diagnosis.
4. Must demonstrate knowledge of the theory and practice of mental health assessment and treatment andhave basic research skills.
5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required, as is the ability to function as a member of amulti-disciplinary team.
6. Must have organizational and leadership skills.
7. Must be able to demonstrate good independent judgment, adapt to new duties and work in a changingenvironment.
8. If driving is a requirement for the employee (it is), he/she must meet the requirements specified in the Fleet DrivingSafety and Compliance Policy and must continue to meet these requirements as a condition of employment.
9. Completion of training as directed through orientation and/or by Leadership, Management or Educators inthe established timeline for continued employment.
