Description

The Air Force Life Cycle Management Center, Unified Platform (UP) program office (AFLCMC/HNCP), is responsible for developing and sustaining a cloud-based platform that enables cyber operations across the Department of Defense (DoD). UP requires Contractor support to coordinate and integrate work across legacy Big Data Platforms (BDPs), also known as Unified Platform Data Nodes (UPDNs). UP also requires Contractor support to enhance and develop new applications, analytics, and services for UP and to modernize capabilities as defined by United States Cyber Command (USCYBERCOM) through an agile, evolving requirement identification and prioritization process.

The Quantitative Software Engineer develops software to execute quantitative methods against large data sets. This will all be in support of UP development and modernization requirements span the entire software life cycle (exploration, development, operations, and sustainment) and use a modular design philosophy, where functional components may be aligned in four separate layers (applications, shared and common services, data, and IT infrastructure) with security embedded throughout

Required Skills

  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in software development, preferably in a data-intensive environment
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
  • Top Secret clearance
  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages (Python, Java, C++, etc.)
  • Experience with data structures, algorithms, and software design optimized for large-scale distributed systems
  • Familiarity with database systems, both SQL and NoSQL
  • Understanding of quantitative methods and the ability to implement them into software development
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as in a team
  • Experience with Cloud-based systems and/or AI/Machine Learning Development

Desired Skills (Optional)

  • Security+
  • Experience with big data processing frameworks such as Hadoop, Spark, etc
  • Knowledge of machine learning algorithms and their application in data analysis
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools and techniques
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies quickly and independently
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Proven experience or certification in Agile methodologies
  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
  • Experience with Terraform, Kustomize or Helm.
