Job Description
  • Operate web printing press to print quality production, maintain quality of product, lead and direct press crew, maintain press, and work on other operation duties as directed by the supervisors
  • Set up, adjust, operate, and maintain a gravure press or , multi-color offset press to print single-color, two-color, and/or multi-color work which includes large solids, screen tints, line and halftones with critical color values and registration requirements ranging from hairline to critical
  • Review job specifications to determine the press setup according to the imposition of the run (sheet wise or work and turn)
  • Perform all make-ready tasks associated with the type of press operated such as hanging plates or installing cylinders, examine plates/cylinders for imperfections and checks for correct positioning of images, prepping blankets, adjusting tension and register etc.
  • Makes necessary color corrections and/or press adjustments prior to production run to meet and maintain the quality specifications of the work
  • Clean, lubricate, and maintain the press, making minor repairs and replacing worn or broken parts as required
  • Performs periodic maintenance recommended by the manufacturer.
  • Act as a leader in providing and promoting a safe and injury-free work environment.
  • Responsible for all aspects of the operation of the press and press crew.
  • Responsible for over all quality of the printed product including color reproduction, product specifications, imaging quality and postal specifications.
  • Determines when product is suitable for saving.
  • Responsible for producing a sample-quality product.
  • Monitors other crew member's progress while performing their responsibilities.
  • Provides accurate documentation of time, materials, impressions, waste, and run speeds.
  • Communicates information effectively with other crews and departments, scheduling, prepress, maintenance.
  • Coordinates make-ready process by reviewing job information, establishing make-ready plan, and assigning responsibilities to crew members.
  • Responsible for maintaining a Preventive Maintenance Program for the press, and using the "Request For Action" system to notify the maintenance department of issues with the equipment.

Qualifications
  • Requires comprehensive knowledge of a wide variety of techniques, procedures, materials, specifications, equipment, and safety requirements to set-up, adjust, operate, and maintain equipment to produce single-, two-, and/or multi-color work to critical tolerances
  • Skill in a wide-variety of complex manipulations and mechanical procedures to perform a variety of tasks to set-up, make major adjustments, and perform routine maintenance and minor repairs of equipment to produce single-, two-, and/or multi-color work
  • Skill to read and understand job specifications and knowledge of press capabilities to determine the most appropriate press usage, press settings and materials needed to run the job successfully
  • Skill in use of micrometer to mount and align the printing plate correctly
  • Ability to set andadjust tension in an inline finishing line.
  • Experience with maintaining and setting up die units, perf units, glue units per job specifications.
  • Experience with inline imaging equipment.

Additional Information

Thepay range for this role at the noted location is $26.97 - $33.83 / hour. The

actual rate of pay offered may vary based upon, but not limited to: education,

skills, experience, proficiency, performance, shift, and location. In addition to

base salary, depending on the role, the total compensation package may also

include overtime, shift differential, call-in, and stand-by pay. RRD offers benefits
