Sr Engineering Design Professional - Security/Electronics

HOK is currently seeking a Sr Security/Electronics Engineering Design Professional to join our team in Dallas, Houston, or Seattle. This role is responsible for all aspects of construction document deliverables. Responsibilities include: model and document management, document production including spec writing for the security/technology group, QA/QC, ensuring accuracy and linkage to the appropriate Architectural, Structural, and MEP models, and supporting the needs of the low voltage system group at large. This role is also responsible for the setup, production, maintenance, and management of drawings and data within the Revit model environment for the Security/Technology group.



  • Assist the Group in production of construction documents in Revit.
  • Set up low voltage models based on the project architectural model.
  • Set up project models using developed templates and input content.
  • Assume Design Duties on assigned projects, including the design of:

    • Security Automation System Layouts.
    • Information Transport System Layouts.
    • Audio Visual System Layouts.


  • Pick up redlines for Project Managers.
  • Site Survey work to validate device layout for renovation projects.
  • Produces and manages production and equipment schedules, making changes and adjustments as necessary with input from the engineering team as required.
  • Assist in the development of document standards to provide continuity of documents regardless of Project Manager.
  • Document QA/QC, including quality audit checks on title sheets, layers, fonts, and line types.
  • Assist Architectural discipline in compiling construction documents relative to low voltage drawings and specifications.
  • Assist low voltage design technicians in clash detection and conflict resolution with MEP and other systems.
  • Printing/plotting of drawings.
  • Maintenance of Revit families.
  • Ensure BIM standards and guidelines are followed.
  • Organizes and maintains Revit models for multiple projects.
  • Works closely with project team and assists in completing projects on schedule.
  • Utilizes knowledge and experience in applying modeling and drafting principles for drawings.
  • Implements and utilizes HOK Standards for projects and processes.
  • Fosters a commitment to external and internal client service.

Required Skills

  • Understanding of high level Revit functions and automated processes required.
  • Understanding of construction management software systems.
  • Advanced skills in production of construction documents using Revit.
  • Advanced skills in Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Ability to manage project deliverables and assist Project Manager in delivering quality construction documents.
  • Knowledge of networks, physical security, audio/visual, and/or other applications.
  • Ability to work in team environment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; 2 year degree in construction management or low voltage design related field of study a plus.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in similar role.
  • SME level knowledge of Revit required.
  • Knowledge and understanding of construction disciplines and bid documents.
  • Knowledge and understanding of low voltage systems (corrections and government applications is a plus).
  • Experience working in integrated teams.
